கிழக்கில் மலையகக் குரல் 

எப்போதெல்லாம் அதிகாரத்தின் பிடியிலிருந்து மக்கள் விடுபடுகிறார்களோ அப்போதொல்லாம் அவர்கள் சுதந்திர உணர்வு பெறுகிறார்கள். மேலும் சுயமாக சிந்திக்கிறார்கள், செயற்படுகிறார்கள், இதன் பொருட்டு அமைப்பாக்கியும் கொள்கிறார்கள். இத்தகைய நிகழ்வானது உலகு தழுவியும் உள்நாடு தழுவியும் நிகழ்கிறது. புவியியலில் உலகின் தட்ப வெப்ப நிலை மாற்ற (Global Warming- Climate Change) எதிர்ப்பியக்கம், அரசியலில் பாலஸ்தீன ஆதரவு இயக்கம், இலங்கையில் அரகளைய ஆட்சிக் கவிழ்ப்பு இயக்கம், இவையெல்லாவற்றிலும் இத் தன்னியல்பான போக்கையே காண்கிறோம். இத்தகைய ஒரு உலகளாவிய மக்கள் இயக்கம் வீச்சுடன் செயற்பட்டு வருகிறது. இதுபோலத்தான் டிட்வா புயல் அனர்த்தத்திலும் இலங்கையில் மக்கள் செயற்பட்டு வருகிறார்கள். 

அபரிமித உற்பத்தி உருவாக்கிய உலகின் தட்ப வெப்ப நிலை மாற்றத்துடன், இலங்கை அடங்கலாக, அண்மையில் ஆசியப் பகுதிகளைப் புரட்டிப் போட்ட அனர்த்தங்கள் நேரடித் தொடர்புடையவை என்பதை பூகோள விஞ்ஞான ஆய்வுகள் ஏற்கெனவே நிரூபித்துவிட்டன.

இதனால் இவ் அனர்த்தங்களில் இருந்து மனிதகுலம் விடுபடுவதும், தான் வாழ்வதற்குரிய ஒரேயொரு பூமிக்கிரகத்தைப் பாதுகாப்பதுமான அரசியல் கடமையை மனிதகுலம் சுமந்துள்ளது.

அதேவேளை உடனடிக் கடமைகளாக இவ் அனர்த்தங்களை எதிர்கொண்டு வாழ்வைக் கட்டமைத்து நகர்கின்ற பணியும் இணைகின்றது.

தன்னியல்பான மக்கள் அமைப்புகள் இதற்கே முயல்கின்றன. அவற்றை ஆதரித்து ஊக்குவிப்பது அத்தியாவசியக் கடமையாகும்.

வேள்வி பெண்கள் அபிவிருத்தி ஒன்றியம் அம்பாறை மாவட்டத்தில் செயற்பட்டு வரும் ஒர் சமூக நிறுவனமாகும். எமது ஒன்றியமானது சமூக, பொருளாதார, கலாச்சார, சிவில் மற்றும் அரசியல் உரிமைகளை மேம்படுத்தும் நோக்குடன் கடந்த 15 வருடங்களாக செயற்பட்டு வருகின்றது. 

எமது ஒன்றியமானது பெண்கள் ஒத்துழைப்பு முன்னணி வலையமைப்பின் ஒரு சுயாதீன அங்கமாக தேசிய ரீதியாக செயற்பட்டு வருகின்றது. இவ் வலையமைப்பின் ஊடாக மலையக மக்கள், சிங்கள மக்கள், தழிழ் மற்றும் முஸ்லிம் மக்களுடனும் இணைந்து சமூக,பொருளாதார, கலாச்சார, சிவில் மற்றும் அரசியல் உரிமைகளை மேம்படுத்தல், சமூக ஒருமைப்பாடு என பல்வேறு சமூக நல செயற்பாடுகளை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றது. 

இந் நிலையில் இலங்கையில் கடந்த நவம்பர் இறுதி வாரத்தில் வீசிய சூறாவளியால் ஏற்பட்ட வெள்ளம் மற்றும் மண்சரிவினால் மலையக பகுதிகளில் பல உயிர் இழப்புகளும், வீடு சொத்துக்கள் சேதமடைந்துள்ளதுடன், விவசாயம் மற்றும் தொழில் துறைகளும் முற்றாக பாதிக்கப்பட்டு மக்கள் மிகவும் கஸ்டமான நிலையில் இடைத்தங்கல் முகாம்கள் மற்றும் உறவினர் வீடுகளில் அகதிகளாக தஞ்சமடைந்துள்ளார்கள். 

இது போன்று மகாவெலி ஆறு பெருக்கெடுத்ததால் திருகோணமலை, மன்னார், பொலனறுவை போன்ற பல மாவட்டங்களைச் சார்ந்த  பிரதேசங்களும் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. இதனால் பெண்கள், சிறுவர்கள், வயோதிபர்கள் என பலரும் மிகவும் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு உள்ளார்கள். தற்போது இவர்களுக்கான உணவு, உடை, உறையுள், குடி நீர், மருத்துவம், சுகாதார தேவைகள் என பல உடனடித் தேவைகள் காணப்படுகின்றன. 

இவ்வாறு பாதிக்கப்பட்ட மக்களுக்கான தேவைகளை கருத்தில் கொண்டு நிவாரண உதவியினை மேற்கொள்வதற்காக எமது வேள்வி பெண்கள் அபிவிருத்தி ஒன்றியம் கிராம மட்டத்தில் இயங்கும் எமது வலையமைப்புகளுக்கு அறிவுறுத்தியுள்ளது. இதற்கமைய வழங்கப்பட்ட ஆலோசனைகளின் அடிப்படையில் அவர்களின் கிராமங்களிலுள்ள மத ஸ்தலங்கள், அரச நிறுவனங்கள், பொது அமைப்புகள் ஒன்றிணைந்து கிராமம் கிராமாக  உடனடி நிவாரண பொருட் சேகரிப்பு செயற்பாடுகளில் இணைந்து செயற்பட்டு வருகின்றார்கள்.

இச் சூறாவளியால் மறைமுகமாக அம்பாறை மாவட்டமும் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இவ் அனர்த்தத்தால் ஏற்பட்ட மின் தடை காரணமாக ஒரு வாரத்திற்கு மேலாக அம்பாறை கரையோர பிரதேசங்களுக்கான மின்சாரம் தடைப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதனால் பலரின் தொழில்கள் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு பொருளாதார ரீதியாக மிகவும் கஸ்டப்படுகின்றார்கள், சுயதொழில் செய்யும் பெண்கள், விவசாயிகள், சிறு தொழிலாளர்கள் என பலரின் வாழ்வாதாரம் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இவர்களுக்கான உதவிகளும் தற்போது தேவைப்படுவது குறிப்பிடத்தக்க விடயமாகும்.

சந்திப்பு இன்று திங்கட்கிழமை நடைபெற்றது.

எமது நாட்டின் அந்நிய செலாவணிக்காக கடந்த இருநூறு வருடங்களாக கஷ்டப்பட்டு உழைத்து வரும்  மலையக தொழிலாளிகளுக்கு சம்பள உயர்வை வழங்கும் இந்த அரசாங்கத்தின் செயற்பாட்டை பரிபூரணமாக வரவேற்கின்றோம் .

இவ்வாறு கிழக்கு மாகாணத்தில் இருந்து வேள்வி பெண்கள் அமைப்பு மற்றும் பெண்கள் ஒத்துழைப்பு முன்னணி சார்பாக இன்று (17) திங்கட்கிழமை நடத்திய ஊடகவியலாளர் சந்திப்பில் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது .

பெண்கள் ஆமைப்பு சார்பாக எம். ரிலீபா பேகம்,  பேரின்பராஜா மனோரஞ்சனி, எஸ் தங்கராணி ,ஏ.ஆர். அஸ்பர் ஆகியோர் கருத்து தெரிவித்தார்கள் .

அவர்கள் மேலும் தெரிவிக்கையில் .

 பெண்களின் சமூக பொருளாதார அரசியல் உரிமைகளுக்காக தொடர்ச்சியாக உழைத்து வரும் நாங்கள், மலையக பெண்களின் வாழ்வாதாரத்தை உயர்த்தும் அரசின் நடவடிக்கையை பரிபூரணமாக வரவேற்கின்றோம். அதற்காக ஜனாதிபதிக்கு நன்றிகள் கூறுகின்றோம்.

மக்களின் வரிப்பணம் மக்களையே சென்றடைய வேண்டும். மலையக மக்களும் வரிப்பணம் செலுத்துகிறார்கள். அதனை அனுபவிக்க அவர்களுக்கு பூரண உரிமை உண்டு.

 எதிர்க்கட்சி என்பதற்காக அனைத்தையும் எதிர்க்கக் கூடாது  எதிர்க்கின்ற அரசியல்வாதிகள் மக்களின் வரிப் பணத்தில் தான் சொகுசாக வாழுகின்றார்கள்  என்பதை மறந்து விடக்கூடாது.

  அரசாங்கம் அறிவித்திருக்கின்ற 400 ரூபாய் சம்பள உயர்வு நிச்சயமாக அந்த மக்களுக்கு சென்றடைய வேண்டும் .

 அரசின் அசுவெசும கொடுப்பினை கூட மலையக மக்களை சென்றடைவதில் சிக்கல் இருக்கின்றது. அதனையும் இலகுவாக்க வேண்டும்.

 இலங்கை அரசினால் வழங்கப்படும் சகல உரிமைகளும் சலுகைகளும் சகல மக்களுக்கும் சென்றடைய வேண்டும்  அதனை அனுபவிக்க மலையக மக்கள் உள்ளிட்ட சகல மக்களுக்கும் உரிமை உண்டு.இதை எதிர்க்கின்ற உரிமை யாருக்குமில்லை. 

எனவே இந்த சம்பள உயர்வை நாங்கள் பூரணமாக ஆதரிக்கின்றோம் இதை கொண்டு வந்த சமகால அரசாங்கத்திற்கும்  ஜனாதிபதிக்கும் நன்றி கூறுகின்றோம்.  

அரசாங்கம் பட்ஜெட்டில் அறிவித்துள்ள  வருகை கொடுப்பனவானது தோட்டத் தொழிலாளர்களின் அடிப்படைச் சம்பளத்துடன் சேர்க்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்றும் கோருகின்றோம்.

நிச்சயமாக இந்த அரசாங்கம் கடந்த கால அரசாங்கங்களை போல் அல்லாது,  சொன்னதை சொன்னபடி செய்யும். இந்த மலையக மக்களுக்கு நிச்சயமாக இது கிடைக்கும் என்று 100% நம்புகிறோம். என்றனர்.

• இன்று முதல் எதிர்வரும் 16ஆம் தேதி வரை வடக்கு மற்றும் கிழக்கு மாகாணங்களில் வானிலை சீரான நிலைமையில் காணப்படும்.  எனினும் ஒரு சில பகுதிகளில் அவ்வப்பொழுது மிதமான மழை கிடைக்கும் வாய்ப்புகள் காணப்படுகின்றது.  
• அதேபோல மத்திய, ஊவா, சப்ரகமுவ, தெற்கு மற்றும் மேற்கு மாகாண பகுதிகளில் அவ்வப்பொழுது மழை கிடைக்கும் சாத்தியமுள்ளது. 
•  அதேவேளை எதிர்வரும்16ம் திகதி தென்கிழக்கு வங்காள விரிகுடாவில் சிறிய அளவிலான காற்றுச் சுழற்சி ஒன்று உருவாகும் வாய்ப்புள்ளது.
•  இதனால் எதிர்வரும் 16ஆம் தேதி முதல் 19 ஆம் தேதி வரை வடக்கு மற்றும் கிழக்கு மாகாணம் உட்பட்ட நாட்டின் பல பகுதிகளுக்கும் மிதமானது முதல் கனமான  மழை கிடைக்கும் வாய்ப்புள்ளது. ஒரு சில இடங்களில் மிகக் கனமழை கிடைக்கும் வாய்ப்புள்ளது. 

• குறிப்பாக எதிர்வரும் 16 ஆம் திகதி முதல் வடக்கு, கிழக்கு, மத்திய, சப்ரகமுவ,ஊவா, வடமத்திய, மாகாணங்களில் கன மழை கிடைக்கும் என எதிர்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது . 
• மத்திய மற்றும் ஊவா மாகாணங்களில் தொடர்ச்சியாக மழை கிடைத்து வருகின்றது.  இதனால் சில இடங்களில் நிலச்சரிவு நிகழ்வுகளும் பதிவாகியுள்ளன. இந்த நிலைமையில் எதிர்வரும் 16.12.2025 முதல் 19.12.2025 வரை இப்பிரதேங்களில் கன மழை வாய்ப்பும் உள்ளது. எனவே இந்த நாட்களிலும் நிலச்சரிவைத் தூண்டும் கனமழை கிடைக்கும் என்பதனால் மக்கள் நிலச்சரிவு தொடர்பில் அவதானமாக இருப்பது அவசியம். 
• நிலச்சரிவு அபாயத்தின் காரணமாக வெளியேற்றப்பட்டு தற்போது பாதுகாப்பான இடங்களில் உள்ள மக்கள் மேற்குறிப்பிட்ட இந்த நாட்களிலும் பாதுகாப்பான இடங்களில் இருப்பதே சிறப்பு.

Ukraine would be fast-tracked to join the European Union by 2027 under a peace plan set to be discussed with the United States.

The move has been branded a “crafty” attempt by Kyiv to kick-start its stalled membership talks by forcing the bloc to rewrite its accession procedures.

Kyiv’s EU membership prospects have been featured in each rendition of the US-backed proposal to end the war since its controversial 28-point plan leaked late last month.

But the latest version states that Ukraine would join the bloc by Jan 1 2027, or within around 12 months of any ceasefire.

“You can’t deny Kyiv’s crafty negotiating skills these days,” a diplomatic source told The Telegraph.

Concluding a peace accord featuring an accession timeline would all but cement Ukraine’s place within the EU.

Even the most sceptical officials in Brussels would find it difficult to block the accelerated pathway for fear of plunging the wider peace talks into disarray.

US support for the scheme would provide Viktor Orban, Hungary’s prime minister and an ally of Donald Trump, political cover to quietly drop his opposition to Ukraine joining the EU.

On Thursday, Volodymyr Zelensky said that his negotiators had “shaped our approach to some points in line with the fact that Ukraine will in the future be a member of the European Union”.

He added: “The issue of Ukraine’s future EU membership, depends largely on the Europeans – and on the Americans too, in fact.

“Because if we agree a deal specifying when Ukraine becomes a member of the EU, the Americans, as a party to this agreement, will do everything so that our European path cannot be blocked by others in Europe over whom they have influence.”

Accession to the EU is considered a merit-based system, with 36 steps to complete before the process can be finalised.

The diplomatic source said opening the door in such a fashion to Ukraine could result in a “big bang” expansion.

“You couldn’t admit Ukraine without the other candidate countries,” they added.

There are eight other candidate countries, including Turkey, Albania and Moldova, whose talks over joining the bloc are at differing stages.

One strategy being pushed in Brussels is to create a second tier of EU membership, which would make it easier for states to join while maintaining a process before they can access the key benefits.

“You’d be a member of the club but to gain access to the single market, euro, Schengen, you’d first need to take further steps,” a source said.

The issue of membership is likely to arise at talks in Paris on Saturday between Ukrainian, European and American officials.

Discussions over other contentious issues, such as territorial concessions to Moscow, have also been mooted.

Late on Thursday, Mr Trump suggested that he was “very close” to a deal with both Russia and Ukraine.

The US president’s negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, have been piling pressure on the Ukrainian side to surrender the eastern Donbas regions of Donetsk and Luhansk as the price for peace.

On Friday, questions were also raised over whether Washington had used the FBI to weaken Kyiv’s negotiating position by offering amnesty from corruption charges to its lead negotiator Rustem Umerov.

It emerged that Mr Umerov, Ukraine’s national security adviser, held highly unusual meetings with FBI director Kash Patel and his deputy Dan Bongino during a recent visit to the US, the Washington Post reported.

Back home, Mr Umerov was questioned by investigators as part of a probe into an alleged £75m corruption scandal within the state-owned energy sector.

There is no suggestion that Mr Umerov is involved in the graft and kickbacks allegedly received.

The scandal led to the resignation of Andriy Yermak, Mr Zelensky’s former chief of staff, who many considered the second most powerful man in Ukraine, after his home was raided. He denies wrongdoing.

On the battlefield, Ukrainian forces have recaptured parts of the northeastern town of Kupiansk and several villages around it in an operation that has encircled Russian troops, according to a Ukrainian military commander.

Moscow spent much of November claiming that it had taken full control of the town, with Vladimir Putin even offering journalists access, but Ukraine repeatedly denied it had changed hands.

“Today, we can say that the Russians in the city are completely cut-off. For a long time, they couldn’t understand what was happening. But now they know they are surrounded,” Ihor Obolienskyi, commander of the Khartiia Corps of the National Guard, said.

In a display of strength, Mr Zelensky visited troops near the town.

“Many Russians talked about Kupiansk – we can see. I was here, I congratulated the guys. Thanks to every unit, to everyone fighting here, to everyone destroying the occupier,” he said.

Ukraine’s Deep State battlefield mapping project now shows at least three villages to the north and west of Kupiansk under Ukraine’s control. Kupiansk’s northern districts are also shown as under Ukrainian control and the map suggests Russian troops are encircled in the city centre.

The recapture marks a much-needed morale boost for Ukrainian troops after the Russian leader claimed Pokrovsk, in the eastern region of Donetsk, had fallen into Russian hands.

Kyiv insists fighting is ongoing in the north of the city. Analysts believe Putin claims early victories in cities in order to project an image of strength and gain the upper hand in US-mediated peace negotiations.

Ukraine’s recapture of parts of Kupiansk gives Mr Zelensky and his negotiators ammunition against the narrative that his country’s defeat is inevitable.

Inside Downing Street on Friday, Sir Keir Starmer hosted Bart De Wever, the Belgian prime minister, for talks about a £185bn plan to use frozen Russian assets to fund Kyiv.

Belgium, where £158bn is frozen, is currently blocking the EU scheme over fears it could be left on the hook if Moscow sues over the seizure.

Russia’s central bank launched legal action on Friday against Euroclear, a Belgian-based clearing house, for refusing to release assets held since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

The lawsuit in Moscow could threaten to derail fragile EU attempts to calm Belgium’s nerves ahead of a summit of European leaders in Brussels next week to decide whether to use the assets to guarantee financial aid to Kyiv.

According to sources familiar with the discussions between Sir Keir and Mr De Wever, the Prime Minister sought to alleviate fears by saying Britain would follow any EU decision to use the frozen Russian assets, and Belgium would not be alone in standing up to any Russian retaliation.

If Putin is “prepared to sacrifice ordinary Russians in this way, what is he prepared to do to us?” the NATO chief said.

NATO Chief Mark Rutte urged member countries to do more to prepare for the possibility of large-scale war, warning that Russia may be ready to attack the alliance within five years.

"We are Russia's next target. And we are already in harm's way," Rutte said on Thursday during a speech in Berlin. "Russia has brought war back to Europe, and we must be prepared for the scale of war our grandparents and great grandparents endured."

Although he welcomed the decision by NATO members to increase overall military spending to 5 percent of gross domestic product annually by 2035, Rutte argued more needed to be done, saying alliance members must shift to a “wartime mindset."

“This is not the time for self-congratulation," Rutte said. "I fear that too many are quietly complacent. Too many don't feel the urgency. And too many believe that time is on our side. It is not. The time for action is now."

Rutte warned Russia may be strong enough to attack NATO territory sooner than many assume.

“NATO’s own defenses can hold for now, but with its economy dedicated to war, Russia could be ready to use military force against NATO within five years,” he said.

Rutte underscored his plea for urgency by arguing that Russian President Vladimir Putin had already exhibited a willingness to sacrifice the lives of Russian soldiers in large numbers, claiming that over one million Russian troops had been killed since the Kremlin launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

“Putin is paying for his pride with the blood of his own people," Rutte said. "And if he is prepared to sacrifice ordinary Russians in this way, what is he prepared to do to us?”

Rutte also said the Kremlin would not be able to sustain its war on Ukraine without help from China.

“China is Russia's lifeline. Without China's support, Russia could not continue to wage this war,” he said, “About 80 percent of critical electronic components in Russian drones and other systems are made in China. So, when civilians die in Kyiv or Kharkiv, Chinese technology is often inside the weapons that kill them.”

Excluding Elon Musk — who poured more than $294 million into contributions boosting Trump and other Republicans in 2024 — the billionaires in the Trump administration, along with their spouses, gave more than $52 million to Trump, pro-Trump PACs and the Republican National Committee in the 2024 campaign alone, according to a Washington Post analysis.

“The members of President Trump’s team are patriotic outsiders,” White House spokesperson Liz Huston wrote in a statement, “with decades of successful private sector experience who are now proudly serving our country.”

Trump’s net worth has since grown to more than $5 billion — largely as a result of ventures beyond real estate, like investments in cryptocurrencies and his social media platform Truth Social.

Net worth: $3.2 billion

Trump’s boisterous Commerce secretary was the longtime chief executive of financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald. He and his wife didn’t contribute to Trump’s 2016 campaign, but gave $550,000 to Trump, pro-Trump PACs and the Republican National Committee for the 2020 election. In the 2024 cycle, he gave $8.8 million, and Trump named him a co-chair of his transition. And this year the Lutnick family contributed to Trump’s White House ballroom project, according to the White House.

Linda McMahon

Secretary, Education Department

Net worth: $3 billion

Education Secretary Linda McMahon and her husband, former World Wrestling Entertainment chairman Vince McMahon, made billions by transforming WWE into a juggernaut (the McMahons have separated, Linda’s attorney recently told The Post). She is leading the Education Department, which Trump has vowed to eliminate — though McMahon has acknowledged that congressional action would be required to do so. Still, McMahon has taken steps to dismantle the agency.

McMahon served for just around a year on the Connecticut state school board before stepping down to unsuccessfully run for Senate in 2010, running again in 2012.

But her support for Trump has brought her closer to the spotlight. She and her husband have given more than $47 million to Trump, pro-Trump PACs and the Republican National Committee since 2015, according to a Post analysis of campaign finance filings. She served as the administrator of the Small Business Administration in Trump’s first term, chaired a pro-Trump super PAC in 2020, and co-chaired Trump’s transition last year.

Steve Witkoff

Assistant to the president and special envoy for peace missions

Net worth: $2 billion

Thirty-nine years ago, Donald Trump forgot his wallet at a New York deli. Steve Witkoff bought him a sandwich. Now, Witkoff — a lawyer turned billionaire real estate mogul — is Trump’s special envoy for peace missions. He was involved in the Hamas-Israel ceasefire deal, talks over the Ukraine war and at least one prisoner swap.

Much of Witkoff’s wealth comes from his real estate development company, according to Forbes. When cryptocurrency firm World Liberty Financial released a corporate document in October 2024, it said the Trump and Witkoff families had financial interests in the venture.

Witkoff has contributed at least $200,000 to Trump, pro-Trump PACs and the RNC in every election cycle since 2016. He gave the most — $930,000 — in 2020. In a sign of the family’s enduring relationship with the president, Witkoff’s son Zach named his son after Trump last year.

Kelly Loeffler

Net worth: $1.3 billion

Kelly Loeffler and her husband Jeff Sprecher worked together at Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the financial firm that Sprecher founded and runs. In the two decades since the company went public in 2005, ICE acquired the New York Stock Exchange and Loeffler became a U.S. senator.

When one of Georgia’s Senate seats became vacant in late 2019, Gov. Brian Kemp (R) appointed Loeffler to the seat, though Loeffler wasn’t Trump’s choice for the job. She held the role for around a year.

Loeffler and Sprecher gave less than $100,000 to Trump, pro-Trump PACs and the RNC in 2016; that number shot up to $1.9 million in 2020 and $7.1 million in 2024. Sprecher contributed $1 million to Trump’s 2025 inauguration, and the couple contributed a combined $5 million to a pro-Trump PAC in June. Musk, the world’s richest man, spent $294 million to boost Trump and other Republicans during the 2024 election cycle. For months, he had a post within the White House as part of the U.S. DOGE Service. But Musk’s time as a “special government employee” ended amid a very public blow-up with Trump when Musk publicly criticized the president’s massive tax and immigration law.

Musk and Trump appear to be on speaking terms once again. However, it’s not clear if he’ll continue to spend vast sums to boost Republicans.

Joe Gebbia

Chief design officer

Net worth: $8.3 billion

Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia first joined the Trump administration as part of DOGE, where he worked on modernizing the federal retirement system. Now, he’s the U.S. government’s chief design officer, a role Trump created (and quickly picked Gebbia for) in August. Gebbia has said his directive is “to update today’s government services to be as satisfying to use as the Apple Store: beautifully designed, great user experience, run on modern software.”

Gebbia’s politics have shifted over the years. In an X post on the eve of Trump’s 2025 inauguration styled as a letter to his “younger self,” Gebbia wrote that he first voted for Al Gore in 2000 but “those Democrats you’ve voted for your whole life aren’t the same party they used to be.” Gebbia, who has contributed to Democrats, wrote that he did his own research and found that Trump “is not a fascist determined to destroy democracy.”

Valor Equity Partners founder and CEO Antonio Gracias is a longtime ally of Musk who worked alongside him at DOGE, where as a “special government employee” he looked at Social Security. Gracias was an early backer of Tesla and also invested in SpaceX. Gracias contributed $1 million to a pro-Trump super PAC days before his inauguration this year; he also contributed $1 million to Musk’s America PAC. Gracias has historically contributed to Democrats, such as Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-California).

Net worth: $11.3 billion

Restaurateur Tilman Fertitta is perhaps the only reality television star on this list — besides Trump. He was the star of CNBC’s “Billion Dollar Buyer” from 2016 to 2018. Much of his wealth comes from Fertitta Entertainment, which owns Landry’s, the Golden Nugget Hotels and Casinos, and the NBA’s Houston Rockets.

In the first Trump administration, Fertitta visited the White House amid the coronavirus pandemic to lobby Trump to “add a category” to the Paycheck Protection Program for the “larger private restaurateur,” The Post previously reported. At the time, Trump said Fertitta was a “friend” and that his restaurants “paid me rent for a long time.”

Fertitta and his wife contributed around $1 million to Trump, pro-Trump PACs and the RNC in the 2024 election. He also contributed $1 million to Trump’s inauguration on Dec. 17, four days before Trump announced his selection as ambassador.

Stephen Feinberg is a co-founder of Cerberus Capital Management, a private equity giant. Feinberg’s financial disclosure, which he had to file to comply with ethics rules, stretched over more than 1,800 pages with attachments — longer than any other billionaire nominated for a post in the Trump administration.

Feinberg is deputy secretary of defense, the Pentagon’s No. 2 civilian post. He did not make substantial contributions to Trump in the lead-up to the 2024 election. But he and his wife previously gave financial support to the president and his allies, contributing $2.1 million in 2016 and $1.7 million in 2020 to Trump, pro-Trump committees and the RNC.

Warren Stephens

Ambassador to Britain

Net worth: $3.4 billion

Warren Stephens ran Stephens Inc., a financial firm that was founded by Stephens’ uncle and later run by his father.

Stephens has a history of contributing to both Trump’s opponents and pro-Trump committees. In 2016, he contributed $2.5 million to an anti-Trump committee. But in 2020 he and his wife contributed $5 million to Trump, pro-Trump committees and the RNC; that rose to $8.6 million in 2024. Stephens and his wife contributed $2.9 million to a pro-Nikki Haley committee from June 2023 to January 2024.

The pro-Trump donations continued after Trump was elected president in 2024. Stephens contributed $4 million to Trump’s inauguration on Dec. 2, the same day Trump announced that Stephens would be his pick for ambassador to the U.K. That same day, Stephens also contributed $1 million to a Trump-allied super PAC.

Paul Atkins

Chairman, Securities and Exchange Commission

Net worth: $1.2 billion

Lawyer Paul Atkins, whose wife is Sarah Humphreys Atkins — a descendant of the founder of roofing company Tamko — now runs the Securities and Exchange Commission, an agency that protects investors and monitors markets.

Atkins previously served as a Republican SEC commissioner under President George W. Bush. Atkins has said he is fast-tracking a Trump proposal that would change the mandated frequency of company financial reports to semiannually, from the current quarterly requirement.

Before Trump nominated him, Atkins consulted for firms like ExxonMobil and Bank of America, according to a financial disclosure. He is seen as friendlier to the cryptocurrency industry than his predecessor, Gary Gensler. He contributed $2,700 to a pro-Trump committee in 2016, and he and his wife contributed just over $100,000 to Trump, pro-Trump committees and the RNC in both 2020 and 2024.

Methodology

For this story, The Post included people who have held executive branch positions since Jan. 20, the day Trump was sworn into office. To qualify, they or their spouse had to be on Forbes’s 2025 billionaires list.

To identify campaign donations supporting Trump, The Post looked at federal giving reported to the Federal Election Commission between 2015 and 2024 by appointees and their spouses. Donations to Trump include giving to the Republican National Committee, campaign committees and affiliated PACs, and any super PACs or hybrid PACs where most independent expenditures went to influence the presidential race.

Net worth reflects wealth as of March 7, 2025, according to the Forbes billionaires list.
