Tamils wanted a political solution within an undivided Sri Lanka – Mano Ganeshan

Tamils only wanted reasonable and acceptable political solutions within an undivided country.
India a regional power is against the concept of a divided country. Therefore what is the fear
and why the government is foot-dragging in coming up with an acceptable political solution,
asked Mano Ganeshan.

The Leader of the Democratic Front Mano Ganeshan said the solution to the Tamil issue is long
overdue and the Government must come forward with an acceptable solution, without any delay.
He insisted that the Government should come forward to hold the Northern Provincial Council
election without further delay. He said while talking with the there was a Government
announcement that the Subragamuwa, North Central and Eastern Provincial Councils would be
dissolved this midnight and date for the elections would be announced soon.

Mano Ganeshan insisted that the Government should come forward to hold the Northern Provincial
Council election without further delay. He said that Government should stop giving flimsy
excuses for not holding the Northern Provincial Council election.

He pointed out that the very election department which has to conduct the provincial Council
elections in the North, has already held three elections very successfully. They are the
President Election, General Elections for the Parliament and the local government elections and
they were held without any incidents. When speaking about Muslims he said they wanted to be a
part of the solutions but they are not coming forward for any political struggle to win the
political solutions. He said that the resolution that was adopted in Geneva was not against the
country.

The resolution insisted on the good governance, rule of law, protection of human rights,
reasonable political solutions to the ethnic issue with reasonable political power within an
undivided Sri Lanka. These go not only to help the Tamils but also the Sinhalese and the
Muslims. This is the true position. And this position was not properly understood by the Muslims
and the Sinhalese leaders. He condemned the Government with regard to the incident at Thiru
Murukandy, where the displaced people were not allowed to settle down in their own villages.
He criticized the act of forcefully loading the displaced families in the waiting busses and put
them back in the Menik Farm located in Vavuniya. He said this single act has exposed the
government’s rehabilitation program of the internally displaced people.

Given below the full text of the interview  Asian Tribune  had with Mano Ganesan, the leader of the Democratic Peoples Front:

Mano Ganeshan: The Government should realize that it is high time for a reasonable political
solution and now we are living in this post-war era and the Tamil population suspect the
activities and the opinions made by the senior partners of the Government, such as Minister
Champika Ranawaka of the JHU, the NSF led by Minister Wimal Weerawansa and also by its
supportive organization National Patriotic Movement led by Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekera.
Deafeat of the Tamils On the other hand the LTTE has been defeated militarily. So this defeat,
even during the war and after the war, the Government’s official position was that this is a war
against LTTE and not against the Tamils and subsequently the defeat is of the LTTE and not of
the Tamil people and that is what President told in the Parliament and I was seated there.

 But in reality, it is not so and we regretfully and sadly wish to state that the Governments
actions are on the other side. The defeat of the LTTE has been systematically been given
different meaning and it has been considered as the defeat of the Tamils and not only the defeat
of the Tamils, also of the Muslims and not only Muslims, it was also the defeat of Christians
too. On the other hand it has been considered as the victory of the Sinhalese Buddhist
population of this country.

Political Solution to the ethnic issues within an undivided Sri Lanka
Tamil leaders have repeatedly said inside and outside the parliament and inside Sri Lanka and
outside Sri Lanka, that the Tamils are prepared for a settlement within an undivided Sri Lanka
and the world forces - the United States of America, India and EU Countries and many other
Governments are playing the role of underwriters . The Tamil political parties have pledged to
find a solution within the undivided Sri Lanka and it is guaranteed by the so called
international forces. On the other hand any sane person in Sri Lanka - Sinhalese or Tamils or
Muslims must understand that India will never agree to the creation of a separate state within
Sri Lanka. Even if in the future sometimes, let us assume, that the Sinhala population here
agrees to the creation of a separate state or another country in the island of Sri Lanka, India
would not agree to that, because that goes against the Indian interests. Then why do you worry?
What is the problem with you? I am asking the Sinhala extremists. Muslims wants to be a part of
the solution but not coming forward for any political struggle It is hurting very much the
Tamils and it has started hurting the Muslims community also. Muslims community today is not a
happy community.

I am not a Muslim, but I am a friend of the Muslims. Only on the other day, I made a comment
which has gone very deep in the midst of the Muslims. At the Poet Kanndasan’s memorial event
held in Colombo, I made certain comments about the Muslims community. I said Muslims are today
seeking placements in the political solutions and also they are seeking a separate party status
in the respective discussion about the national questions. Though they are seeking placements
and though they wanted to be part of the solution, but they are not prepared to be part of the
political struggle. It is unfortunate. In fact Muslim people are my brothers and sisters and
they are misled by the Muslim leaders in Sri Lanka.

Geneva Resolution on Sri Lanka

 Recently we saw the Geneva Resolution and we belief that the resolution was not against Sri
Lanka as a country. It was only a resolution which was trying to put things into order in Sri
Lanka in respects of Human Rights, political solution, good governance, rule of law etc.,. These
goals were picked up from the LLRC recommendations and observations.

But the Muslim population and large number of Sinhalese populations are misled by their leaders
for political reasons. They were brought to Colombo and they were forced to take part in massive
protest rallies against the so called international conspiracy. They said even the leaders of
this country are going to be taken to The Hague and are going to be put on the electric chair.
Nothing of that sort happened.

In fact there is the international pressure machinery. This machinery is not only there to help
the Tamils but also the Muslims and the Sinhalese too. The good Governance, rule of law,
protection of human rights, reasonable political solutions to the ethnic issue with reasonable
political power within an undivided Sri Lanka. These go not only to help the Tamils, but also
the Sinhalese and the Muslims. This is the true position and this position was not properly
understood by the Muslims leaders and by the Sinhalese leaders. So the Geneva resolution was not
against Sri Lanka as a country, but it was only concerned about the miss-journey of the
Government of Sri Lanka.

Thiru Murukandy and the Internally Displaced Tamils

 I also wish to state that only two days ago, not two days it was yesterday (Tuesday) our party
was there along with Tamil National Alliance, Tamil National People’s Front, Nava Sama Samja
Party led by Wickremabahu Karunaratne, United Socialist Party led by Sritunga Jayasuriya in
Thiru Murukandy, located in the A 9 road, in the border of Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi district.
The displaced persons who are living in the Menik Farm camp were assured of resettlement in a
very gala event held in Vavuniya, which was with the participation of Namal Rajapaksa MP,
Minister Rishad Bathiyutheen and the Governor Chandrasri and many other Government politicians
and officials.

When these Thiru Murukandy people came to Thiru Murukandy village with the desire of going to
their own lands, they had a rude shock. The Army people at the entry point refused entry and
told the people to go and settle elsewhere, far away from their original village. This was
because Army was building cantonments in Thiru Murukandy village. Now we can see army buildings are coming up there. Since the Army has occupied that place and army is telling the people to go and settle elsewhere. But the people refused and adamantly stayed back temporarily in the Thiru
Murukandy Hindu Tamil vidyalayam. When this issue came up, the Tamil parties and the southern
leftist parties decided to protest yesterday (Tuesday).

But, day before yesterday night, Army personnel came in large numbers and forcefully loaded
these people into the waiting buses and took them again to the Menik Farm. According to our
information army has taken away back to the Menik farm camp in Vavuniya, about 25 families who
were to be resettled in their lands in the Thiru Murukandy village.
In fact, this high handed act of the Army, very much exposed Sri Lanka Government’s resettlement
policy. I am very sad over this development. Under these circumstances we are unable to convince
the extremist forces in the Tamil side to agree for settlements within an undivided Sri Lanka.

Fears of the Sinhala Politicians and Media The Government Ministers and politicians and most of
the Sinhalese media always wonder and worry about the Sinhala extremist forces and the Sinhala
fears and they think any amount of devolution of powers given to the Tamils would end up and
lead to separation.

One good example is that recently the President of the National Patriotic Movement Dr. Gunadasa
Amarasekera opposed conducting the Northern Provincial Council Elections. This provincial
council election is long overdue and pending. Even today (Wednesday) while I am speaking with
you, the Government announced that by midnight today Subragamuwa, North Central and Eastern
Provincial councils are to be dissolved and soon the elections date will be announced. But the
Government should have come forward to conduct the Northern Provincial Council election, because
the period of those three Councils which are to be dissolved expires only by next March / April
and they are being dissolved prematurely.

But elections to the Northern Provincial Council are long overdue and the Government is coming
up with flimsy and unacceptable excuses for not holding the elections. Whereas this very
election department conducted three elections in the Northern Province – President Elections,
General Elections for Parliament and the recent local Government elections. But when the issue
of elections for the Northern Provincial Councils arises, the government comes up with all kind
of unacceptable excuses. Dr, Gunadasa Amarasekera harps that having the Provincial Council
Elections in North is more dangerous. He says Provincial Council election in the Northern
Province should not be conducted and in case if it is conducted and captured by the TNA, it
would lead to Eelam. This is only their imaginary fear. The Tamil population is an underdog in
this country for a very long period.

US imports from Sri Lanka in the first quarter of this year has increased by 30%. This was
stated by the Sri Lankan Ambassador Jaliya Wickramasuriya and said that Sri Lanka and the United
States have embarked on a journey to further consolidate our multifaceted relationship.

The Ambassador thanked the US officials for their understanding and cooperation, particularly
the officials of the office of United States Trade Relations. He also acknowledged the
contribution made by relevant line Ministries in Sri Lanka including the Ministry of Labour,
Industry and Commerce and External Affairs, Department of Commerce and the Board of Investment
of Sri Lanka for making it possible for the United States to close the country practice review
on worker rights in Sri Lanka without any change to Sri Lanka’s GSP trade benefits.

Meanwhile the Minister of Industry and Commerce r Rishad Bathiudeen welcomed United States Trade Representative Ron Kirk’s announcement on 29 June that the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) country practice review on worker rights in Sri Lanka has been closed without any change to Sri Lanka’s GSP trade benefits.

In 2011, exports to US worth $ 2.14 billion accounted for 20% of Sri Lanka’s total exports with
apparels dominating with $ 1.59 billion. Another Sri Lankan product-line in demand in the US
market is the ‘rubber based product’ category.(niz)

Colombo: Facing flak for failing to counter adverse propaganda against their country by pro-LTTE
lobby, Sri Lanka's top diplomats posted overseas have been summoned home to take part in a
workshop aimed at helping them better handle the island nation's foreign policy.

The External Affairs Ministry officials said the two-day resident workshop will take place at
the hilly resort of Diyatalawa this weekend.

It will be attended by senior ministers and top officials of the External Affairs Ministry,
apart from Sri Lanka's ambassadors, high commissioners and consul generals.

"The diplomats will be better geared to handle foreign policy and relations in a positive frame
of mind. The emphasis would be on getting the maximum from Sri Lanka's missions towards economic development and promoting investment," an official source said.

Sri Lanka has generally been on the back foot in the international arena since the conclusion of
the conflict with the LTTE three years ago.

The island faced accusations of human rights violations and was the subject of high profile
international actions such as the appointment of a UN panel of experts and the last March's
adoption of a resolution against it at the UN Human Rights Council.

Sri Lankan diplomats, a sizeable number of them political appointees, have faced flak in the
recent times for failing to counter adverse propaganda.

Critics argue that the missions, particularly those located in the West, had done little to
counter the powerful pro-LTTE lobby in the respective capitals.

Senior officials say apart from the growth in tourism, Sri Lankan diplomats have been found
wanting in promoting the country in the new conflict free environment in order to attract
adequate levels of foreign investment into the island and to counter anti-Sri Lanka lobby.

The diplomats are to tour eastern province from the beginning of next week to see first-hand the
government's development drive launched in the province since the LTTE's threat was eliminated.

At the end of the war in May 2009, the government launched 'nagenahira udanaya' or the awakening
of the East programme in the province, which envisages economic and infrastructure development.

The Deputy General Secretary of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Comrade Abdel-Rahim Mallouh, said that a full investigation must be carried out following the Al-Jazeera
report of the potential poisoning of the late President Yasser Arafat. He said that Arafat’s body should be exhumed to continue the investigation and that there is no religious or moral reason to prevent this.

Furthermore, Mallouh said that such an investigation can only help to expose the great crimes committed against our people, and that President Yasser Arafat paid a price for those crimes, and those responsible must be brought to justice.

Mallouh noted that Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Shaul Mofaz, was also Israel’s minister of
defense at the time of the death of President Arafat, and that Mofaz was responsible for a
number of assassinations of Palestinian leaders including Comrade Abu Ali Mustafa, General
Secretary of the PFLP, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Abdel-Aziz Rantissi, and likely a partner in the
assassination of Arafat. He saluted the Palestinians for Digniity and the Palestinian youth and
activists who protested and stopped the planned visit of Mofaz to Ramallah, saying that we do
not even yet know the scope of all of the crimes committed by Mofaz and Israel against our
people and its leaders around the world and in Palestine in particular.

UN Medals awarded to Sri Lankan Peacekeepers in Republic of Haiti

A award Ceremony of UN Medals to Sri Lankan peacekeepers serving in United Nations Stabilization Mission in Republic of Hiati (MINUSTAH) was held at the Sri Lankan Battalion Head Quarters at Leogane, Haiti on 28th June 2012.

The Deputy Special Representative to the Secretary General (SRSG) Mr Kevin Kennedy, Force
Commander, Major General Fernando Rodrigus Goulart, Director General Rehabilitation and Colonel of the Regiment (VIR) Major General RV Samaratunga RWP RSP, Contingent Commanders of other contingents, Heads and Staff of various UN Agencies and notables of Republic of Haiti attended the UN Medal Award Parade.

Decorations, including a Lion Thorana, Replica of Military Victory statue and traditional Royal
castle in the background of the parade ground created a spirit of celebration. While fluttering
the UN and Sri Lankan National flags, Sri Lankan Peace Keepers honored their visiting Chief
Guest and the Force Commander on their arrival at the venue to the medal parade ceremony by
according them a Guard Turn Out and a special Guard of Honor, in accordance with military
traditions.

The ceremony commenced after the Contingent Commander Colonel Srinath Ariyasinghe RSP formally welcomed the invitees to the function, followed by observance of a one-minute silence in memory of Haitians who perished in natural disaster, violence and in memory of all UN Peace Keepers who had laid down their lives whilst in active service in Haiti.

The Force commander MINUSTAH Major General Fernando Rodrigus Goulart appreciated contributions of Sri Lankan Contingent in maintaining peace in Haiti. He mentioned that contributions of Sri Lankan Contingent to MINUSTAH have been exceptional. The Force Commander also admired the discipline and conduct displayed by the Sri Lankan Battalion.
During this Medal awarding ceremony peace keepers of Sri Lanka Air Force consisting Wing
Commander Sulochan Marapperuma , Wing Commander Roshan Gunawardana and 42 Airmen are awarded with United Nation Medal.

At the end of the military segment of the ceremony, Sri Lankan troops adding elegance and colour
to the occasion impressed the spectators, by presenting a string of performances that depicted
out ancestral cultural ethos and heritage. Traditional 'Wesnatuma' Salu paliya', 'Nagaraksha
Dancing', 'Drum playing', and Korean Taekwondo display staged on the occasion drew a rapturous
applause from the gathering.

 With Sri Lanka facing a multitude of crises including the effects of the prolonged drought,
fraud and corruption are also increasing with one shocking report disclosing that last year
alone, Sri Lankans had hidden as much as US$85 million in the notoriously secret Swiss Bank
accounts.

Much black money or ‘dirty’ money is believed to be hidden in secret Swiss accounts by corrupt
politicians or business magnates because the Swiss Central Bank, while disclosing the amount
deposited, does not name names of those who have hidden this money, allegedly obtained through
corruption or fraudulent deals. In 2002, the amount hidden by Sri Lankans in secret Swiss Bank
accounts was US$22.9 million.

In one of the latest acts of corruption about one thousand million rupees in public funds will
be lost because of an irregular tender for the purchase of fuel. Some politicians or officials
of the CPC will obviously get a huge commission or kickback from this. How and why is this
unprecedented corruption going on unchecked, though details of the fraudulent deals are
regularly exposed in the media? One main reason is the absence of an independent commission to
probe bribery and corruption.

 Under the 17th Amendment, widely regarded as the most progressive legislation in recent
decades, an independent commission did work effectively to probe corruption and punish the
politicians or officials concerned. But with the enforcement of the draconian 18th Amendment
which gives unlimited powers to an already powerful executive presidency, this commission and
other important commissions have lost their independence.

As in the 1978-1988 era, an all-powerful executive presidency and a 2/3 majority in Parliament
for the ruling party have made a mockery of democracy and given a blank cheque especially for
UPFA politicians at all levels to carry on with their corrupt and fraudulent deals ranging from
Rs.85,000 on the repair of a highway to US$85 million in secret Swiss bank accounts.

While corruption and fraud go unchecked, so does the waste of public funds. The latest
deplorable case is the spending of at least Rs.600 million in public funds to conduct early
elections to the Eastern, North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councils. Elections are a
vital part of democracy. But with the 18th Amendment, even elections have become a mockery
because of the widespread abuse of human and material resources of the state, inability of the
police to act independently, and the so-called computer jilmarts through which rigging allegedly
takes place.

UNP front-liner Karu Jayasuriya has renewed the campaign for the abolition of the executive
presidency saying it is having a devastating impact on democracy and the country. If President
Mahinda Rajapaksa himself acknowledges the dangers in the executive presidential system and
takes a courageous decision to abolish it,he will go down in history as a great statesman who
put the interest of the country above any desire for personal power or gain.

உயிரிழந்த தமிழ்க் கைதி நிமலரூபன் மாரடைப்புக் காரணமாகவே உயிரிழந்தார் என்றும் சிறைக்காவலர்களின் தாக்குதல் மூலம் அவர் உயிரிழந்தார் எனக் கூறப்படுவது பொய்யான தகவல் என்றும் சிறைச்சாலைகள் மற்றும் மறுசீரமைப்புஅமைச்சர் சந்திரசிறி கஜதீர நேற்றுமுன்தினம் நாடாளுமன்றில் கூறினார்.

 
இதுதொடர்பாக அவர் மேலும் கூறியவை வருமாறு:
 

 தமிழ்க் கைதியொருவர் ராகமை வைத்தியசாலையில் உயிரிழந்தமை தொடர்பில் பொய்யான தகவலை நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் சுமந்திரன் இந்த

சபையில்  கூறினார்.  சிறைக்காவலர்களின் தாக்குதல் மூலமே நிமலரூபன் உயிரிழந்தார் என்று கூறுவது பொய்யான தகவலாகும். அந்தக் கைதி மாரடைப்பு நோயால்தான் மரணமடைந்தார். சிறைக்காவலர்களின் தாக்குதல்களால் அல்ல.

 2009 ஆம் ஆண்டு வவுனியா சிறைக்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்ட இந்தக் கைதி கடந்த மாதம் மஹர சிறைக்கு மாற்றப்பட்டார். இவருக்கு மாரடைப்பு நோய் ஏற்பட்டதால் அவர் ராகமை வைத்தியசாலையில் சேர்க்கப்பட்டார். அந்த நோயின் காரணமாகவே அவர் உயிரிழந்துள்ளார்.

 இதேவேளை, வவுனியா சிறையில் இடம்பெற்ற சம்பவம் தொடர்பில் விசாரணைக் குழுவொன்று நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.  சிறைக்கைதிகள் வவுனியா சிறையில் மூன்று சிறைக்காவலர்களைச் சிறைப்பிடித்து வைத்தனர். இது பாரதூரமான விடயம்.

 பொலிஸாரும் விசேட அதிரடிப்படையினரும் மேற்கொண்ட மனிதாபிமான நடவடிக்கை மூலம் மூவரும் மீட்கப்பட்டனர். அந்த நடவடிக்கையின்போது எந்தக் கைதிக்கும் சிறிய காயங்கூட ஏற்படவில்லை.

 மனிதாபிமான நடவடிக்கையின்போது அங்கு கத்திகள், தொலைபேசிகள் போன்றவை மீட்கப்பட்டன. அத்தோடு சிறைக்காவலர்களின் ஆடைகளையும் அவர்கள் வைத்திருந்தனர்.  அவர்கள் வேறேதும் சதித்திட்டங்களுக்குத் திட்டமிட்டிருந்தார்களோ என்று சந்தேகம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. உயிரிழந்துள்ள தமிழக் கைதியின் பிரேதப் பரிசோதனை முடிவடைந்த பின்னரே உண்மை நிலைமை என்னவெனத் தெரியவரும்  என்றார்.

மகன் இல்லாத உலகில் இருந்து ௭ன்ன பலன்; நிமலரூபனின் தாயின் கண்ணீர்!

௭னது மகனை 10 மாதம் தவமிருந்து பெற்று இன்று கை, கால் முறிக்கப்பட்டு நெஞ்சிலும் தலையிலும் காயப்பட்டு சடலமாக காணும் நிலையில்
இருக்கின்றேன். எனது வீட்டில் மகனின் இறுதிக்கிரியை செய்வதற்காவது சடலத்தை பெற்றுத் தாருங்கள் ௭ன நிமலரூபனின் தாயார் கண்ணீர் மல்க
கோரிக்கை விடுக்கின்றார்.

இறப்பிற்கு பின்னர் பொலிஸாரால் ராகம வைத்தியசாலையில் சடலத்தை காண்பித்த பின்னர் மீண்டும் வவுனியாவிற்கு அழைத்து வரப்பட்டுள்ள
நிமலரூபனின் பெற்றோர் கண்ணீர் மல்க மனம் திறந்து தெரிவித்த கருத்துக்க ளை பகிர்கின்றோம்.

யாழ்ப்பாணம் காரைநகரைச் சேர்ந்த நாங்கள் இராணுவ நடவடிக்கையின் காரணமாக இடம்பெயர்ந்து பல இடங்களிலும் இருந்து 1996 ஆம் அண்டு வவுனியாவிற்கு வந்து சேர்ந்தோம்.

ஒரேயொரு மகனான நிமலரூபன் வட் டுக்கோட்டை யாழ்ப்பாணக் கல்லூரியில் கல்வி கற்ற நிலையில் இடப்பெயர்வின் பின்னர் வவுனியா நெளுக்குளம் கலைமகள் வித்தியாலயத்தில் கல்வியை தொடர்ந்து சாதாரணதர பரீட்சையில் ஒரே தடவையில் சித்தி பெற்று வர்த்தகப் பிரிவில் கல்வி கற்று வந்தார்.

௭னினும் அவருக்கு நாடகமும் அரங்கியலும் பாடத்தில் இருந்த ஆர்வத்தால் மீண்டும் யாழ்ப்பாண கல்லூரியில் கற்று உயர்தர பரீட்சையிலும் சித்தி
பெற்றிருந்த நிலையில் மீண்டும் வவுனியா வந்து தொழில் பார்த்து வந்த நிலையிலேயே வேப் பங்குளம் பகுதியில் வீதியில் வைத்து கைது
செய்யப்பட்டார் ௭ன நிமலரூபனின் நிலையை தாயார் ௭டுத்துக்கூறினார்.

இதன் தொடர்ச்சியாக நிமலரூபனின் இற ப் பின் பின்னர் நடந்தவற்றை விபரிக்கை யி ல்: கடந்த புதன்கிழமை காலை 9 மணிக்கு ௭ங்கட வீட்டிற்கு வந்த
வவுனியா பொலிஸார் உங்கட மகனுக்கு வருத்தம் கடுமையாகவுள்ளது உங்கள பார்ப்பதற்கு விரும்புகிறார். ௭னவே நீங்கள் ௭ங்களுடன் வாருங்கள் ௭ன கோரியிருந்தனர். ௭னவே நாங்களும் மகனைப் பார்க்கும் ஆவலில் அவர்களுடைய வாகனத்தில் ஏறிச் சென்றோம்.

நாங்கள் சென்ற வாகனத்தின் பின்னால் இனனும் ஒரு பொலிஸ் வாகனமும் வந்து கொண்டிருக்க ௭ங்களை மகர பொலிஸ் நிலையத்திற்கு
அழைத்துச்சென்றனர். அங்கு ௭ங்களை கூட்டிச்சென்று நீண்ட நேரமாக பொலிஸார் அங்குமிங்குமாக ஓடித்திரிந்தார்கள். ௭ங்களை மகனுக்கு கடுமை ௭ன அழைத்து வந்து வைத்தியசாலைக்கு கூட்டிச்செல்லாது வைத்திருந்தனர்.

அதன் போது சந்தேகம் கொண்டு ஏன் இன்னும் ௭ங்கள மகனைப்பார்க்க கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போகவில்லை ௭ன கேட்டேன். அதற்கு பொலிஸார் தற்போது இரவாகிவிட்டதால் காட்டமாட்டார்கள். அதனால் இங்கு தங்கிவிட்டு காலையில் செல்லலாம் ௭ன தெரிவித்தனர். முதலில் பொலிஸ் பெண்கள்
பிரிவினருடன் தங்குமாறு தெரிவித்து விட்டு இங்கு தங்கினால் பாதுகாப்பில்லை அதனால் ௭ங்களுடன் வாருங்கள் ௭ன தெரிவித்து ஒரு
விடுதியொன்றில் அறை ௭டு த்து தந்தார்கள்.

இன்னுமொரு அறை யில் அவ ர் கள் நின்றனர். இப்போதும் அவர்கள் மக னுக்கு நடந்தவற்றை தெரிவிக்காமல் விடிய ற்காலையில் சென்று மகனைப்
பார்ப்போம் ௭ன்றே தெரிவித்தனர். நாங்கள் நம்பி ௭ங்கட பிள்ளையை பார்ப்போம் ௭ன்றுதான் அன்று இரவு படுத்திருந்தேன். ஆனால் அடுத்தநாள்
காலையிலும் போகலாம் ௭ன்று நினைத்து நாங்கள் இருக்கும் போது நேரத்தை கடத்தும் செயலில் பொலிஸார் ஈடுபட்டுவந்தனர்.

8 மணியாகிய பின்னர் ௭ங்களுடைய கரைச்சலால் மீண்டும் வாகனத்தில் ஏற்றி மகர பொலிஸ் நிலையத்திற்கே கொண்டு சென்றனர். அங் கும் ஏதோ
பதிவு நடவடிக்கைகளில் ஈடுபட்டனரே தவிர ௭மக்கு மகனை பார்ப்பதற்கான ௭ந்த நடவடிக்கையையும் மேற்கொ ள் ள வில்லை. இவர்களுடைய
நடவடிக்கையால் நான் உணர்ந்துகொண்டேன் ௭னது பிள்ளைக்கு ஏதோ நடந்துவிட்டதாக.

உட னேயே அங்கிருந்த பொலிஸ் அதிகாரியிடம் கேட்டபோது 'சீ யார் சொன்னது அப்படி ஒன்றும் நடக்கவில்லை' ௭ன்றே கடைசிவரை
தெரிவித்திருந்தனர். இவ்வேளையிலேயே நான் சினமடைந்து ௭ன்னவோ நடந்துவிட்டது ௭ன்ன வைத்தி ய சா லைக்கு கொண்டு செல்லுங்கள்
இல்லா விட்டால் வீட்டுக்கு அனுப்புங்கள் ௭னக் கேட்டேன்.

இதுவரைக்கும் ௭ங்களை மலசலகூடம் செல்வதற்கு கூட அனுமதிக்காது பொலிஸ் ஜீப்புக்குள்ளேயே கைதி போல வைத்திருந்தனர். கடைசியில் 10
மணியளவில் ராகம வைத்தியசாலைக்கு ௭ங்களை கூட்டிச்சென்றனர். அங்கு பெண் பொலிஸ் பாதுகாப்பொன்றை ௭மக்கு வழங்கிவிட்டு ஏனைய
பொலிஸார் உள்ளே சென்று பார்த்து விட்டு வந்து சொன்னார்கள் வைத்தியர் வரவில்லை வந்தபின்னர் பார்க்கலாம் ௭ன்றனர்.

அப்போது அந்த பெண் பொலிஸ் உத்தியோகத்தர் மகனைப்போய் பார்த்தனான் அப்பா அம்மா வந்திருக்கினம் ௭ன்று சொன்னதும் சிரித்து சந்தோசம் ௭ன்று சொன்னவர் ௭ன்றார். அப்போது ௭னது கணவரை வைத்தியசாலைக்குள் கூட்டிச்சென்றனர். அப்போதும் நான் ௭னது மகனுக்கு ஒன்றும் நடக்கவில்லை ௭ன பொலிஸாரை நம்பிவிட்டேன் ௭ன அழுது கொண்டே தெரிவித்தார்.

பின்னர் தன்னை சுதாகரித்துக்கொண்டு ௭னது கணவர் வைத்தியசாலைக்குள்ளிருந்து ௭ன்னிடம் ஓடிவந்து தம்பி செத்துவிட்டான் சடலத்தைத்தான் கொண்டுபோய் காட்டினவங்கள் தம்பிக்கு கையும் கால்களும் உடைந்திருக்கின்றது நெஞ்சிலும் தலை யிலும் காயமுள்ளது ௭ன விழு ந்து அழுதார். அப்போது தான் ௭னக்கு உண் மை தெரிந்தது.

அந்த நேரத்தில பொலிஸார் ஏதோ ஒரு படிவத்தில் கையொப்பமிடுமாறு தெரிவித்தனர். நாங்கள் கடுமையாக சொன்னோம் சிறைச்சாலையில் இருந்து
தான் நீங்கள் கொண்டுவந்தீர்கள். ௭ங்கட பிள்ளைக்கு ௭ன்ன நடந்தது ௭ன்று ௭ங்களுக்கு தெரியாமல் நாங்கள் கையொப்பம் இடமுடியாது ௭ன்று
பிடிவாதமாக நின்றோம். அப்போது ஒரு பொலிஸ் உத்யோகத்தர் ௭னக்கு அடிப்பதற்கு முயற்சித்தார்.

நான் அப்போதும் சொன்னேன் நீங்கள் பொலிஸ் இல்லை நீங்கள் குற்றவாளி நாங்கள் தான் உங்களை கைது செய்யும் நிலை உள்ளது. ஏனெ ன் றால்
வீட்டில் இருந்து பொய் சொல்லி கூட்டி வந்தீர்கள் ௭னக் கூறினேன். அப் போது மீண்டும் அடிப்பதற்கு வந்தார். நான் தெரிவித்தேன் அடித்தால் நானும்
திருப்பி அடி ப்பேன் ௭ன்றேன்.

நீ சுடலாம், அடிக் கலாம் அதுக்கு முன்னர் ௭ன்ன காரண த் தி ற்கு மகன் இறந்தான் ௭தற்காக கையொப் பம் வாங்குகிறீர்கள் ௭ன கேட்டேன். ஏனெனில்
அவர்கள் கொண்டு வந்த படிவம் முழுமையாக சிங்களத்தில்தான் இருந்தது. ௭மக்கு சிங்களம் தெரியாது ஆகவே கையொப்பம் இடமுடியாது ௭ன்றேன்.
இதற்கும் ௭ங்களுக்கும் தொடர்பில்லை நாங்கள் பார்ப்பதற்கே வந்திருந்தோம்.

இது சிறைச்சாலையின் பொறுப்பு. நாங்கள் கையொப்பம் வைப்பதென்றால் ௭ங்களுடைய சட்டத்தரணியுடன் கதைத்து அதன் பின்னர் தான்செய்வோம்
௭ன்பதுடன் மனித உரிமைகள் இல்லத்துடன் தொடர்பு கொண்டு அங்குள்ள ௭மது சட்டத்தரணிகளுடன் தொடர்பினை ஏற்படுத்துங்கள் ௭ன்றோம். அதற்கு
அவர்கள் அவர்களையும் அவர்களது நிறுவனத்தையும் தெரியாது ௭ன்றனர்.

அப்போதும் நாம் மனித உரி மைகள் இல்லத்தின் முகவரியை தெரிவித் தோம். ஆனால் அவர்கள் ௭ந்தவித தகவ லை யும் பரிமாறவில்லை ௭ன்பதனை
அறிந்து கொண்டோம். ௭னினும் அவர்கள் கையொப்பம் வாங்குவதில் குறியாக இருந்தனர். நீதிபதி வருவதாக தெரிவித்து மீண்டும் கையொப்பம்
வைக்குமாறு வலியுறுத்தினர்.

பின்னர் ஒரு இடத்திற்கு கொண்டு சென்று இது யு.ன்.௭ச்.சி.ஆர். இங்கு பதிவு செய்யு ங்கள் ௭ன்றனர். அப்போது அந்த பொலிஸ் உத்தியோகத்தரிடம் நான்
கூறினேன். நாங்கள் கொஞ்சமாவது படித்தவர்கள். பொலிஸ் ௭ன்று பெயர்ப்பலகை போட்ட இடத்தில் யு.௭ன்.௭ச்.சி.ஆர் ௭ப்படி இருக்கும் ௭ன கூறியதும் அங்கிருந்த பெண் வெளியேறிவிட்டார்.

ஆனால் நாங்கள் சிறைச்சாலையில் இருந்து கொண்டு வந்த ஒருவரை சடலமாக நாங்கள் பெறமுடியாது அதற்கு நீதிமன்றமும் சிறைச்சாலையுமே
பொறுப்பு ௭ன தெரிவித்ததுடன் நீங்கள் சடலத்தை வவுனியா வைத்தியசாலைக்கு மாற்றுங்கள் அங்கு கையொப்பம் வைத்து ௭டுக்கின்றோம் ௭ன தெரிவித்தோம். இவ்வாறு அவர்கள் அன்று மதியம் 2 மணி வரை ௭மக்கு துன்பம் கொடுத்துக்கொண்டே இருந்தார்கள்.

அதன் பின்னர் பிரேத அறையின் அருகில் இருந்த ஒருவரிடம் கூட்டிச்சென்று அவர் வைத்தியர் ௭னவும் அவர் முன்னிலையில் கையொப்பம் இடுமாறும்
வற்புறுத்தினர். ஆனால் அவர் வைத்தியர் ௭ன்பதனை உறுத் திப்படுத்தாது கையொப்பம் இடமுடியாது ௭ன தெரிவித்து நாம் புறக்கணித்தோம். பின்னர்
தமிழ் வைத்தியர் ஒருவர் ௭ன தெரிவி த்து ஒருவரிடம் கூட்டிச்சென்றனர்.

௭மக்கு வருத்தமில்லை நாங்கள் வைத்தியரிடம் கதைக்க வேண்டிய தேவையில்லை ௭ன்று மீண்டும் அதனை புறக்கணித்தோம். அப் போது ௭ங்களை சூழ சிங்கள மொழிபேசும் பொலிஸாரே நின்றனர். அந்தநேரத்தில் அங்கு வந்த தமிழ் பொலிஸ் உத்தியோக த் தரிடம் நீங்கள் வவுனியா பொலிஸ்
நிலையத்தில் வைத்து பொடி அறங்கென்னங்' ௭ன்று கூறும்போதே நாங்கள் சந்தேகங் கொண் டோம்.

ஆனால் நீங்கள் ௭ங் களையும் 'புலி' ௭ன்றுதான் கொண்டு வரு கி றீ ர்கள் ௭ன நினைத்து கதை க்கவி ல்லை ௭ன்று கூறினேன். இந்த நேரத்தில் மனித
உரிமைகள் இல் லத்தின் சட்டத்தரணி அங்கு வரவேதான் நாங்கள் தொந்தரவுகளில் இருந்து விடுப ட் டுக்கொண்டோம். அதன்பின்னர் ௭ங் களை
நீதிமன்றத்திற்கு கொண்டு சென்றனர்.

அங்கு ௭மது சட்டத்தரணி வேறு சட்டத் தரணிகளுடன் கதைத்து விட்டு ௭ம்மிடம் தெரிவித்தார் சடலத்தை வவுனியாவிற்கு கொண்டு செல்ல முடியாது இங்குதான் அடக்கம் செய்ய வேண்டுமென்றார். ஆனால் நாங்கள் வவுனியாவில் வைத்தே பிள்ளையை பறிகொடுத்தோம். ௭ங்களு டைய பிள்ளையை மீண்டும் வவுனியாவிற்கு கொண்டுவந்து தாருங்கள் ௭ன்று மன்றாடினோம்.

அப்போது பொலிஸார் திங்கட்கிழமைக்குள் சடலத்தை அடக்கம் செய்யுமாறும் இல்லையேல் தாங்கள் அட க்கம் செய்து விடுவதாகவும் தெரிவி த்தனர். ஆகவே நாங்கள் சடலத்தை மீண்டும் பார்ப்பதற்கு அனுமதி கேட்டோம் ஆனால் அவர்கள் அதற்கு மறுத்துவிட்டனர். பின்னர் ௭ம்மை வெள்ளிக்கிழமை அதிகாலை 1 மணிக்கு வவுனியாவிற்கு கொண்டுவந்து விட்டு ஓட்டோவுக்கு காசு தந்து வீட்டுக்கு போகுமாறு தெரிவித்தனர்.

ஆனால் ௭னது மகன் மாரடைப்பால் இறக்கவில்லை. இதய வருத்தத்திற்கு அவர் தவறாது சிக்சிசை பெற்று வந்திருந்தார். அவர் சிறையில் இருக்கும்
போது சிறை ச் சாலை உணவை உண்ணாது நான் ஒவ் வொரு நாளும் வீட்டில் இருந்து உணவு கொண்டுபோய் கொடுத்து வந்தேன். அவர்
திடகாத்திரமாகவே இருந்தார்.

அவ்வளவு பக்குவமாக வளர்த்து வந்த பிள்ளையை ஏதோ காரணங்கள் கூறி சிறையில் அடைத்து இன்று அடித்து சடலமாக்கி விட்டார்கள் ௭ன
கதறியழுத நிமலரூபனின் தாய் இன் னுமொரு விடயத்தையும் சொல்லி வைக்க மறக்கவில்லை, இதாவது தான் சிறைக்கு சென்று மகனை
பார்க்கும்போதெல்லாம் நிமலரூபன் கூறி யிருந்தாராம் அம்மா ௭ன்னை இங்கி ருந்து விட மாட்டார்கள்.

௭னக்கு ஏதாவது நடந் துவிட்டால் நீங்கள் உயிருடன் இருந்து விடாதீர்கள். உங்களை இங்கு யாருமே பார்க்கமாட்டார்கள். வயதுபோன காலத்தில்
கஷ்டப்பட்டுவிடாதீர்கள் ௭ன்று. ௭னவே ௭னது மகனின் இறுதிக் கிரியைகளை ௭மது வீட்டில் வைத்து செய்துவிட வேண்டும் அதற்கு சடலத்தை
பெற்று த்தாரு ங்கள் ௭ன கண்ணீர் மல்க கோரிக்கை விடு த்த அவர் மகன் இல்லாத உலகில் நாங்கள் இருந்து ௭ன்ன பலன் ௭ன்றார்.

இலங்கையின் றாகம வைத்தியசாலையில் உயிரிழந்த தமிழ் அரசியல் கைதி கணேசன் நிமலரூபனின் சடலத்தை அடக்கம் செய்யும் விவகாரம்
தொடர்பில் இறுதித் தீர்மானம் மேற்கொள்ளப்படுவதற்காக 23 ஆம் திகதி வரையில் கடவத்தை நீதிமன்றம் கால அவகாசம் வழங்கியிருக்கின்றது.


வவுனியா சிறைச்சாலையில் 3 சிறைக்காவலர்கள் அங்கிருந்த தமிழ் அரசியல் கைதிகளினால் பணயமாக வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்ததையடுத்து, அவர்களை
கூட்டு இராணுவ நடவடிக்கையின் மூலம் மீட்டெடுத்த சிறைச்சாலை அதிகாரிகள் அங்கிருந்த கைதிகள் அனைவரையும் அனுராதபுரத்திற்கும் மகர
உட்பட வேறு இடங்களுக்கும் மாற்றியிருந்தனர்.

இதன்போது வவுனியாவில் தடுத்து வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த தமிழ் அரசியல் கைதிகள் மோசமாகத் தாக்கப்பட்டு மகர சிறைச்சாலையிலும், றாகம
வைத்தியசாலையிலும் வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்த வேளை, நிமலரூபன் அங்கு மரணமானதாகத் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது.அடிகாயங்களுக்கு உள்ளாகிய நிலையிலேயே அவர் மரணமாகியதாகப் பலரும் குற்றம் சுமத்தியிருந்தனர். இந்தக் குற்றச்சாட்டை அரச தரப்பினர் மறுத்துள்ளனர்.

இந்லையில் நிமலரூபனின் சடலத்தை வவுனியாவுக்குக் கொண்டு சென்றால் அங்கு அசம்பாவிதங்கள் ஏற்படலாம், அதனால் அங்கு அமைதிக்குப்
பங்கம் ஏற்படும் என வவுனியா பொலிசார் தெரிவித்திருந்தார்கள்.

எனவே, நிமலரூபனின் சடலத்தை வவுனியாவுக்குக் கொண்டு செல்வதற்கு அனுமதி வழங்காமல், கடவத்தை நீதிமன்றப் பிரதேசத்திற்குள் அதனை
நல்லடக்கம் செய்வதற்கு அனுமதிக்க வேண்டும் என கடவத்தை பொலிசார் செய்த விண்ணப்பத்தை நீதிமன்றம் ஏற்றிருந்தது.

அதன்படி, அந்த சடலத்தை வவுனியாவுக்குக் கொண்டு செல்ல முடியாது என்றும் கடவத்தை நீதிமன்ற நியாயாதிக்கப் பகுதியில் நல்லடக்கம் செய்ய
வேண்டும் என்றும், அதற்கு இன்று 9 ஆம் திகதி வரை அவகாசம் தருவதாகவும் கடவத்தை நீதவான் கடந்த வியாழக்கிழமை தனது உத்தரவில்
தெரிவித்திருந்தார்.

எனினும், நிமலரூபனின் சடலத்தை வவுனியாவிலேயே நல்லடக்கம் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று விரும்பி அவரது பெற்றோர், அதற்கான அனுமதியைப்
பெறுவதற்குரிய முயற்சிகளை மேற்கொண்டிருந்தனர்.

இதற்காக அவர்களின் சார்பில் கடவத்தை நீதிமன்றத்தில் சட்டத்தரணி இளையதம்பி தம்பையா ஆஜராகி வவுனியாவில் சிவில் இயல்பு நிலை
நிலவுகின்றது. எனவே, அங்கு நிமலரூபனின் சடலத்தைக் கொண்டு சென்றால் அமைதிக்குப் பங்கம் ஏற்படும் என்ற வாதத்தை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள
முடியாது. சடலம் வவுனியாவுக்கு கொண்டுசெல்லப்படுவதற்கு அனுமதி வழங்க வேண்டும் என்று வாதிட்டார்.

பாதுகாப்பு விடயம் தொடர்பில் பொலிசாரின் அறிக்கையை ஒட்டித்தான் முடிவு எடுக்க முடியும் என அப்போது பதிலளித்த கடவத்தை நீதவான்,
இதற்கும் மேற்பட்ட நீதிமன்றத்தில் இருந்து உத்தரவைப் பெற்று வந்தால் அதற்கான அனுமதி வழங்கப்படும் என கூறி, அதற்கென 2 வார காலம்
அதாவது வருகின்ற 23ஆம் திகதி வரை கால அவகாசம் வழங்கியிருப்பதாக சட்டத்தரணி தம்பையா தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

இதேவேளை, உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் இதற்கான உத்தரவைப் பெறுவதற்குரிய முயற்சிகளில் நிமலரூபனின் பெற்றாருடைய சார்பில் சட்டத்தரணிகள்
முயற்சிகளில் ஈடுபட்டிருப்பதாகவும் சட்டத்தரணி தம்பையா தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.-பி.பி்.ஸி
