 IMF Executive Director calls on PM to discuss policy initiatives for economic stability

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Director Dr. Krishnamoorthy Subramanian yesterday called on Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at the Prime Minister’s Office in Colombo.

The meeting focused on key economic matters, including tax policy, the effective management of tax revenue, and measures to enhance public sector efficiency, a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office noted.

The Prime Minister also outlined the Government’s future development agenda, highlighting policy proposals to ensure economic stability and foster sustainable growth, it added.

IMF Alternate Executive Director Dr. P.K.G. Harischandra also participated in the discussions.

The Sri Lankan delegation included Secretary to the Prime Minister Pradeep Saputhanthri, Additional Secretary (Development) to the Prime Minister Sagarika Bogahawatta, Central Bank Governor Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Central Bank Assistant Governor Dr. C. Amarasekara, Economic Research Additional Director Dr. Lasitha R.C. Pathberiya, Senior Economist and Liaison Officer for the IMF Executive Director Amila J. Wijayawardhana, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director (Bilateral), Economic Affairs Division Lashinka Dammullage, and Department of External Resources Director General Samantha Bandara.
