இந்திய-இலங்கை ஒப்பந்தத்தின் விளைவாக இலங்கை நாடாளுமன்றம் நிறைவேற்றிய 13வது அரசியல் சட்டத்திருத்தத்தை இலங்கை அரசு ரத்து செய்யவேண்டும் என்ற கோரிக்கைகள் இலங்கையில் முன்வைக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.

இதை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு இலங்கை அரசு ஒருக்கால் 13வது சட்டத் திருத்தத்தை ரத்து செய்யுமானால் அது அரசியல் ரீதியாக பிழையான ஒரு நடவடிக்கையாக இருக்கும் என இலங்கை-இந்திய உறவுகள் குறித்து கவனம் செலுத்திவரும் தில்லி ஜவஹர்லால் நேரு பல்கலைக்கழகப் பேராசிரியர் சஹாதேவன் கூறுகிறார்.


இறையாண்மை பெற்ற ஒரு நாடு என்ற வகையில் எந்த ஒரு சட்டத்தையும் நிறைவேற்றும் உரிமை இலங்கைக்கு உண்டு , எனவே இந்த சட்டத் திருத்தத்தை நாடாளுமன்றத்தின் மூலமாக அது ரத்து செய்வது என்பது சட்டப்படி சாத்தியமே என்றாலும் அது அரசியல் ரீதியில் தவறான ஒரு நடவடிக்கையாக இருக்கும் என அவர் கூறினார்.

இலங்கை இனப்பிரச்சினைக்குத் தீர்வாகக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்ட 13வது சட்டத்திருத்தத்தை இலங்கை ரத்து செய்தால் அதன் விளைவுகள் இலங்கையை மீறி இருக்கும், இலங்கையின் நம்பகத்தன்மையை அது பாதிக்கும் என்கிறார் ஆய்வாளர் பேராசிரியர் சஹாதேவன் ஏனென்றால்,  இந்த சட்டத்திருத்தம் இலங்கையின் மற்ற சட்டத்திருத்தங்களைப் போன்றதல்ல. இனப்பிரச்சினைக்கு தீர்வு காண கொண்டுவரப்பட்ட ஒரு நடவடிக்கை. இலங்கையில் போர் முடிந்து மூன்று ஆண்டுகளாகியும், தமிழ்ச் சிறுபான்மையினருக்கு அரசியல் ரீதியான தீர்வு ஒன்றை தர அரசு முன்வரவில்லை என்ற கருத்து சர்வதேசத்தில் மேலோங்கியிருக்கும் நிலையில், இவ்வாறான நடவடிக்கை, இலங்கை மீதான நம்பகத்தன்மையை பாதிக்கும் என்றார் சஹாதேவன்.

இந்தியா இந்த நடவடிக்கையைத் தடுக்குமோ இல்லையோ , ஆனால் நிச்சயம் வரவேற்காது என்றும் அவர் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

மேலும், இந்த சட்டத் திருத்தம் இந்தியாவினால் இலங்கை மீது திணிக்கப்பட்டது என்ற கருத்து தவறானது என்று கூறிய சஹாதேவன், இலங்கையில், இந்திய-இலங்கை அமைதி ஒப்பந்தத்தை அடுத்து, தமிழர் ஐக்கிய விடுதலைக் கூட்டணிக்கும் அரசுக்கும் இடையேயான கருத்துப் பரிமாற்றங்களை ஒட்டியே இந்த சட்டத்திருத்தம் வந்தது என்று சமீபத்தில் இந்தியா வந்த தமிழ் தேசியக் கூட்டமைப்பினர், ஜவஹர்லால் நேரு பல்கலைக்கழக மாணவர்கள் சந்திப்பில் கூறியதை சுட்டிக்காட்டினார்.

இந்த சட்டத்திருத்தம் வெளிநாட்டினால் திணிக்கப்பட்டதல்ல, உள்நாட்டு வழிமுறையிலேயே உருவானது என்று அவர் கூறினார்.

இலங்கையிலிருந்து யுத்த காலத்தில் வெளிநாடுகளுக்கு அகதிகளாக சென்றவர்கள் நாடு திரும்புவதில் எந்தவிதமான பாதுகாப்பு ரீதியான பிரச்சனைகளும் இல்லையென்று இந்தியாவில் இலங்கை அகதிகளின் நலன்சார் விடயங்களில் ஈடுபட்டுவரும் தொண்டுநிறுவனமான ஈழ ஏதிலிகள் மறுவாழ்வுக் கழகத்தின் (ஆஃபர்) (OfERR (Organisation for Ealam Refugees Rehabilitation) தலைவர் எஸ்.சி. சந்திரஹாசன் கூறுகிறார்.

தமிழகத்தில் இருந்து இலங்கைக்கு திரும்பிச்சென்றுள்ள இலங்கை அகதிகள் 6 ஆயிரம் பேர் வரையில் தமக்கு அங்கு பாதுகாப்புப் பிரச்சனைகள் இருப்பதாக உணரவில்லை என்றும் அவர்களுக்கு வாழ்வாதாரப் பிரச்சனைகளே இருப்பதாகவும் அவர் பிபிசி தமிழோசையிடம் தெரிவித்தார்.


தமிழகத்தில் வசிக்கின்ற இலங்கை தமிழ் அகதிகள் சொந்த நாட்டுக்கு திரும்பிச் செல்வதை ஊக்குவிக்கும் நடவடிக்கைகளில் தமது அமைப்பு ஈடுபட்டுள்ளதாகவும் அவர் கூறினார்.

இருநாட்டு அரசுகளுடன் இதற்காக பேச்சுநடத்தி இருதரப்பு புரிந்துணர்வு உடன்படிக்கையொன்றை உருவாக்கும் முயற்சிகளிலும் தாம் ஈடுபட்டிருப்பதாகவும் சந்திரஹாசன் தெரிவித்தார்.

தமிழகத்தில் சுமார் ஒரு லட்சம் இலங்கைத் தமிழ் அகதிகள் வசிக்கின்றனர், அவர்களில் 70 ஆயிரம் பேர்வரையில் முகாம்களிலேயே தங்கி இருக்கின்றனர் என்று ஆஃபர் அமைப்பு கூறுகிறது.

21 ஆயிரம் பேர் இந்திய மண்ணில் பிறந்தவர்கள்1983-ம் ஆண்டுக்குப் பின்னர் தமிழகத்துக்கு அகதிகளாகச் சென்ற குடும்பங்களிலிருந்து சுமார் 21 ஆயிரம் பேர் இந்திய மண்ணில் பிறந்தவர்கள் என்றும் அவர்களில் தற்போது 16 ஆயிரம் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு இலங்கை உயர்ஸ்தானிகரகம் ஊடாக பிறப்புச் சான்றிதழ்களைப் பெற வேண்டியிருப்பதாகவும் அவர் கூறினார்.

நூற்றுக் கணக்கான தமிழர்கள் அண்மைய காலங்களில் கடல் மார்க்கமாக ஆஸ்திரேலியா செல்ல முயன்று பிடிபட்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.

இலங்கை உயர்ஸ்தானிகரகத்தில் பிறப்பை பதிந்து பிறப்புச் சான்றிதழ் பெறாதவர்கள் 'நாடற்றவர்களாகும்' நிலை இருப்பதால் அவர்களுக்கு பிறப்புச் சான்றிதழ் பெற்றுக்கொடுத்து இலங்கைக் குடியுரிமையை உறுதிப்படுத்த வேண்டியிருப்பதாகவும் ஈழ ஏதிலிகள் மறுவாழ்வுக் கழகத்தின் ஸ்தாபகர் சந்திரஹாசன் தமிழோசையிடம் தெரிவித்தார்.

இதேவேளை, மலையக பிரதேசங்களிலிருந்து வடக்கு கிழக்கு பகுதிகளில் குடியேறி, பின்னர் அங்கிருந்து யுத்தத்தால் இடம்பெயர்ந்து தமிழகத்துக்கு அகதிகளாக வந்த இந்திய வம்சாவளி தமிழர்களில் சுமார் 30 ஆயிரம் பேர்வரையில் முகாம்களில் இருப்பதாகவும் அவர்கள் வந்த காலத்தில் நாடற்றவர்கள் நிலையில் இருந்ததால் அவர்களுக்கும் குடியுரிமை ஆவணங்களை பெற்றுக்கொடுக்க வேண்டியிருப்பதாவும் அவர் கூறினார்.
அந்த நடவடிக்கையின் ஒருகட்டமாகவே சென்னையிலுள்ள இலங்கை உயர்ஸ்தானிகர் அலுவலகம் ஊடாக ராமேஸ்வரம் அகதிகள் முகாமில் இருப்போருக்கு சனிக்கிழமை பிறப்புச் சான்றிதழ்களும் குடியுரிமை ஆவணங்களும் வழங்கப்பட்டதாக அவர் கூறினார்.

இதேவேளை, இலங்கையில் வடக்கு கிழக்குப் பிரதேசங்களில் மக்கள் குடியிருப்பு காணிகளில் இராணுவ முகாம்கள் அமைந்துள்ளதையும் அங்கு அரசியல் தீர்வுத்திட்ட முயற்சிகள் முடங்கியிருப்பதையும் சுட்டிக்காட்டி தமிழோசை கேள்வி எழுப்பியபோது, அந்தப் பிரச்சனைகள் அரசியல் பேச்சுவார்த்தைகள் மூலமாக பேசித் தீர்க்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்றும் ஈழ ஏதிலிகள் மறுவாழ்வுக் கழகத்தின் தலைவர் சுட்டிகாட்டினார்.

The Saudi Arabian Government has indicated that the Attorney General (AG) of Sri Lanka should
come to Saudi Arabia to discuss the legal issues connected with the release of condemned Sri
Lankan maid Rizana Nafeek, foreign media reported.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa met with Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia on
the sidelines of the Asia Corporate Dialogue Summit in Kuwait City this week.

Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, is presently the Vice Custodian of the Two Holy
Mosque, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Saudi Arabia, as well as the
most senior member of the House of Saud, next to the King of Saudi Arabia.

Prince Salman who is expected to succeed the King of Saudi Arabia was earlier the Governor of
Riyadh and handled the files connected with Rizana Nafeek .

 The Saudi Government has told the Sri Lankan delegation that met them, to send Sri Lanka’s
Attorney General to Saudi Arabia for further talks regarding the legal issues connected with the

30 வருடகாலமாக நீடித்த பயங்கரவாத பிரச்சினையை யுத்தத்தின் ஊடாக ஜனாதிபதி மஹிந்த ராஜபக்ஷவின் தலைமையில் தோற்கடித்தோம். ௭னினும் இந்த 30 வருடகால யுத்தம் ௭ன்பது பல்வேறு பின்னணிகளுடனான வரலாற்றைக்கொண்டுள்ளது ௭ன்பதனை நாம் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவேண்டும். ௭னவே இந்த விடயத்தை இலகுவாகக்கொள்ள முடியாது.யுத்தம் முடிந்துவிட்டாலும் இன்றும் கூட அமைச்சர் மஹிந்த சமரசிங்க நியுயோர்க்கில் ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் சபையில் இந்தப் பிரச்சினை குறித்து விவாதித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றார். கசிப்பு சாராயத்தை தயாரித்தவரை பிடிப்பதைப்போன்று இந்த விடயத்தை அணுக முடியாது.இது மிகவும் ஆழமாகவும் விரிவாகவும் ௭திர்கால நல நோக்கோடும் அணுகப்படவேண்டிய விடயமாகும். அந்தளவுக்கு தேசிய முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்ததாக இந்த விடயம் காணப்படுகின்றது.

சட்டத்தை மீறவில்லை ௭னினும் ௭தனையும் சட்டத்தை மீறி நாங்கள் செய்யவில்லை. சட்டத்தின் ஊடாகவே நிலைமையை பார்க்கின்றோம். அதன்படி சில இடங்களில் விட்டுக்கொடுப்புடன் செயற்படவேண்டிய தேவை ௭ங்களுக்கு உள்ளது.அதனை முன்னெடுக்கின்றோம். அடிக்கவேண்டியதை அடித்து முடிந்தாயிற்று. தற்போது பேச்சுவார்த்தைகளையும் கலந்துரையாடல்களையும் நடத்தவேண்டியுள்ளன. யுத்தம் முடிந்துவிட்டது. தற்போது பல விடயங்களில் பல கோணங்களில் ஆராயவேண்டும். நாம் அனைவரும் மனிதர்கள்.சாதகமாக பார்க்கின்றோம் அந்த வகையிலேயே கே.பி. யின் விடயங்களை சட்டத்துக்குள் சாதகமாக அணுகி வருகின்றோம்.

முன்னர் பயங்கரவாதிகளாக இருந்தவர்கள் இன்று பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர்களாக உள்ளனர். மேலும் முன்னர் பஸ்களை ௭ரித்தவர்கள் இன்று ௭ம்.பி. க்களாக உள்ளனர். அதாவது மனிதர்களாக உள்ளனர். அவர்களை பழையதைப் போன்றே வைத்துக்கொண்டிருக்க முடியுமா? ௭னினும் சட்டத்துக்குள்ளேயே இதனை பார்க்கின்றோம். பயங்கரவாதம் யுத்ததத்தின் ஊடாக தோற்கடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஆனால் அதற்கான காரணங்கள் தீர்க்கப்படவேண்டும் ௭ன்ற நிலைப்பாட்டில் அரசாங்கம் உள்ளது. அதற்காகவே கே.பி. ஊடாக கடந்த காலங்களில் புலம் பெயர் தமிழ் மக்களுடன் அரசாங்கம் பேச்சுவார்த்தைகளை நடத்திவந்துள்ளது.

அவ்வாறான கலந்துரையாடல்கள் வெற்றிபெற்றுள்ளன. ௭திர்காலத்தில் கே.பி. ஊடாக புலம் பெயர் மக்களுடன் பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடத்த ௭திர்பார்க்கின்றோம். தொடர்ந்து புலம் பெயர் தமிழர்களுடன் பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடத்தப்படும்.

இராணுவ நடவடிக்கை முடிவு

இராணுவ நடவடிக்கை முடிந்துவிட்டது. ௭னவே ௭திர்கால நலனை நோக்காகக்கொண்டு மீண்டும் ஒருமுறை பயங்கரவாதம் ஏற்படாமல் இருப்பதை உறுதி செய்யும் வகையில் சில விட்டுக்கொடுப்புக்களுடன் செயற்படவேண்டும் ௭ன அரசாங்கம் கருதுகின்றது. இல்லாவிடின் இன்னும் 20, 15 அல்லது 10 வருடங்களில் மீண்டும் பயங்கரவாதம் உருவெடுக்கலாம்.
அதனால்தான் யுத்தத்துக்குப் பின்னரான வேலைத்திட்டங்களை விரைவுபடுத்துமாறு ஐ.நா. செயலாளர் பான் கீ. மூன் கோரிக்கை விடுத்துள்ளார். ௭மது அரசாங்கமும் அந்தக் காரணத்துக்காகவே கற்றறிந்த பாடங்களும் நல்லிணக்கமும் தொடர்பான ஆணைக்குழுவை நியமித்தது. அதன் பரிந்துரைகளை அமுல்படுத்த நடவடிக்கை ௭டுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 50 வீதமான பரிந்துரைகள் அமுல்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளன.

௭து ௭வ்வாறெனினும் இறுதியில் நிரந்தர சமாதானமே தேவைப்படுகின்றது. அதற்காக முயற்சித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றோம். அதுவே ௭மது பிரதான நோக்கமாகும்.

In a new turn of events, the government yesterday said that it would enter into a dialogue with the
Tamil Diaspora to find a solution to the long drawn out ethnic conflict.

Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing in Colombo, said that the groundwork had already been done and there had been a positive response from Sri Lankan Tamils resident abroad.

He said that government emissaries had established the required channel and if things went
according to plan, President Mahinda Rajapaksa would hold talks with the Tamil Diaspora in
Colombo shortly.

The war was over but the state of conflict and tension continued, the Minister said, adding that the objective was to end years of mistrust and usher in permanent peace for the benefit of Sri Lankans.Plantation Industries Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe was currently meeting world
leaders to explain the steps taken to forge ethnic harmony and reconciliation, Minister
Rambukwella said.

It was important to ensure that there would not be a repeat of the thirty-year conflict that had
caused irreparable damage to the country, its people and the economy.

The talks with the Tamil Diaspora were aimed at eliminating the causes that had led to the
emergence of groups like the LTTE. If not, Sri Lanka would be faced with another terrorist
problem in about a decade or so, the Minister said.

Amidst denials by Lakshman Hulugalle, Director General of the Media Centre for National Security, that K. P. Pathmanathan, the LTTE’s former chief arms procurer, had been released, Minister Rambukwella said those who had changed their ways should be given an opportunity to be reintegrated into society.

He said that since the southerners who engaged in violent activities had been given an opportunity
to enter mainstream politics, there was no reason why the ex-LTTE member should not be treated
in a similar manner.

KP to play "useful role"

The LTTE’s former chief arms procurer K. P. Pathamanathan, who was said to be in protective
custody, is to be given a ‘useful role’.

Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella told journalists in Colombo yesterday that many
southerners involved in armed insurrections had been given an opportunity to enter mainstream
politics and there was no reason why Ex-LTTE cadres should not be treated in the same manner.

His comments came amidst denials by Lakshman Hulugalle, Director General of the Media
Centre for National Security that K. P. had been released from protective custody.

"It’s important to treat everyone alike; many former LTTE cadres are holding important positions
in government and there was nothing wrong in giving KP a ‘useful role’, the Minister noted.

Rambukwella said that the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission had been established
to achieve exactly what its name denoted.

Kaabi: October 17 operation a heroic action to confront Ze’evi’s apartheid project

On the 11th anniversary of the October 17 operation, freed prisoner displaced to Gaza, Allam Kaabi, saluted the comrades and heroes of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine who led, planned and carried out the targeting of the extremist racist Zionist occupation Minister of Tourism Rehavam Ze’vi in East Jerusalem, in response to the assassination of PFLP General Secretary, Comrade Abu Ali Mustafa.

Kaabi said in his remarks to the Information Office of the Popular Front that this operation forced the government of the Zionist occupation to pay a price for its crimes, and emphasied the strength and courage of Ahed Abu Ghoulmeh, Majdi and Mohammed Rimawi, Hamdi Qur’an and Basil al-Asmar, as well as General Secretary Ahmad Sa’adat, in their confrontation of the Zionist military machine.

Kaabi said that their action proved that Palestinian blood – and the blood of our Palestinian leaders – is precious and that assassination of our leaders shall not be taken lightly. Kaabi said further that the targeting of Ze’evi came not only in revenge for the assassination of the leader Abu Ali Mustafa, or as a response to the ongoing shedding of the blood of the Palestinian people and their leaders through the terror of the occupation state, but as a natural response to the continuous presence of the occupation and its long history of crimes against our whole people.

Kaabi noted that the operation spoke to the ongoing position of the PFLP from its inception to the present day, that there can be no peace, calm or truce with the occupier and that resistance is a necessary response to its crimes.

He added that the action of the fighters of the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades to target the Zionist racist Rehavam Ze’evi is justified, especially as Ze’evi was one of the foremost advocates of ethnic cleansing and transfer against our people and the assassination of Ze’evi was a heroic action to confront his apartheid project. Kaabi saluted the steadfastness, national commitment and maturity of the Front’s leaders, martyrs and prisoners, saying that the assassination of Abu Ali Mustafa had been deeply painful for the Front yet it never lost its commitment and vision.

He demanded that the Palestinian Authority take this opportunity to reject the policy of security coordination and in particular draw lessons from the crime committed against General Secretary Sa’adat and the heroes of October 17, namely their kidnapping, detention and imprisonment in PA prisons under US/British guard for over four years, from which they were abducted by Zionist forces on March 16, 2006. Kaabi noted that this action by the PA remains an indelible stain on all of those who participated in the commission of this crime.

அரசியலமைப்பிற்கு முரணான வகையில் தமிழ்த் தேசியக் கூட்டமைப்பினால் முன்வைக்கப்படும் கோரிக்கைகளை அரசாங்கம் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாது என சகோதரமொழிப் பத்திரிகையொன்று செய்தி
வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.

அரசியலமைப்பிற்கு முரணானதும், தேசிய பாதுகாப்பிற்கு அச்சுறுத்தல் ஏற்படுத்தும் வகையிலுமான கோரிக்கைகளை அரசாங்கம் எந்த வகையிலும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாது.

தமிழ்த் தேசியக் கூட்டமைப்பினர், இந்திய பிரதமர் மன் மோகன் சிங்கிடம் இலங்கையின் தேசியப் பாதுகாப்பு பற்றி கலந்துரையாடியுள்ளனர். வன்னிப் போரின் போது உருவாக்கப்பட்ட இராணுவ முகாம்களை அகற்றுதல் மற்றும் புதிதாக இராணுவ முகாம்களை உருவாக்கக் கூடாது என கூட்டமைப்பினர் கோரியுள்ளனர்.

தேசிய பாதுகாப்பு விவகாரங்கள் தொடர்பில் தீர்மானம் எடுக்கும் அதிகாரம் தமிழ்த் தேசியக் கூட்டமைப்பிற்கு கிடையாது என அரசாங்கம் சுட்டிக்காட்டியுள்ளது.

கிளிநொச்சி , முல்லைத்தீவு, மாங்கேணி, மட்டக்களப்பு, சிலாபம் உள்ளிட்ட பல பகுதிகளில் கஜூ மற்றும் கரும்பு பயிர் செய்கையினை மேற்கொள்ளவுள்ளதுடன் அதனூடாக அப்பகுதி மக்களின் வாழ்வாதாரத்தை கட்டியெழுப்பவுள்ளதாகவும் சிறு ஏற்றுமதிப் பயிர் அபிவிருத்தி அமைச்சர் ரெஜினோல்ட் குரே தெரிவித்தார்.

சிறு ஏற்றுமதி பயிர்ச் செய்கையினை மேம்படுத்துவதற்காகவே இவ்வாறான விஷேட வேலைத்திட்டங்கள் மேகொள்ளப்பட்டு வருகிறது. கஜூ, மிளகு, கறுவாப் பட்டை உள்ளிட்ட பல பொருட்களுக்கு உலக சந்தையில் நல்ல கிராக்கி உள்ளது. இருந்தும் அந்த நாடுகளில் கேள்விக்கு ஏற்ப எம்மால் இந்தப் பொருட்களை வழங்கமுடிந்தால் பெருந்தொகையான அன்னியச் செலாவணியை நாம் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளலாம்.

தற்போது நாம் இவ்வாறான சிறு ஏற்றுமதி பயிர்ச் செய்கை மூலம் பெற்றுக் கொள்கின்ற வருமானத்தை மேலும் பன்மடங்கு அதிகரித்துக் கொள்வதுடன் அதனூடாக மக்களின் வாழ்வாதரத்தை மேம்படுத்துவதே தமது நேக்கமெனவும் அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.

இந்திய மத்திய உளவுத்துறையான ‘ரா’ இந்தியாவின் அயல்நாடுகளில் பேசப்படும் சிங்களம் உட்பட்ட மொழிகள் தெரிந்தவர்களை உளவுத்துறையில் இணைத்துக்கொள்ளும் நடவடிக்கைகளில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளது.

தற்போது, அயல்நாட்டு மொழி அறிவுடைய மிக சிலரே 'ரா' RAW - உளவுத்துறையில் உள்ளனர் என தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

சிங்களம் (இலங்கை), பாஸ்தோ ( ஆப்கான் ), தாரி ( ஆப்கான் மற்றும் ஈரானில் சில பகுதிகள்), மியான்மாரி ( மியான்மார்), மான்டரின், கான்டனீஸ் ( சீனா) ஆகிய மொழிகளை அறிந்தவர்கள் ரா அமைப்பில் இணைத்துக் கொள்ளப்படவுள்ளார்கள் என தெரியவருகிறது.

இவர்களில் சிங்களம் தெரிந்தவர்கள் தமிழகம் மற்றும் கேரளாவிலும், மற்றைய மொழி அறிந்த வர்கள் வடக்கு மற்றும் கிழக்கு மாநிலங்களிலும் நியமனம் செய்யப்படவுள்ளனர் என அறிய வந்துள்ளது.

Sri Lanka discover many agrarian products using Cobalt 60 radiation sources

Sri Lanka intends sending two Cobalt 60 radiation sources to India within a fortnight at a cost of  Rs. 10 million. The sources are currently installed at the Gannoruwa Horticulture Agrarian Centre. 

According to the Atomic Energy Authority (AEA), these two sources had been used for purposes of agrarian research for nearly 30 years and are now considered outdated.

‘Even though these sources are outdated, their nuclear impact has not reduced. Sri Lanka does not have the technology or facilities to dispose nuclear equipment. It needs lots of expertise and care for these sources to be removed and to be transported. Thus, a team of Indian nuclear experts are currently here and are working on it. It requires careful handling as even the slightest mistake may cause a major environmental impact and also affect the people”, Senior Deputy Director of AEA, Anil Ranjith, said.

He also noted that these sources cannot be transported in a normal shipment, thus needing the facilitation of a special shipment.

“The US government has extended its assistance in financing the removal and transportation of the two sources while India extends technical assistance. Since India is heavily engaged in civil nuclear projects they have all the facilities and technologies needed for nuclear disposal,” he added.

According to Ranjith, one of these sources had been installed some 30 years ago and the other 25 years ago.

“We were able to discover many agrarian products using these sources. Apart from different kinds of paddy seeds, one of the popular products we discover is the Sri Lankan cherry tomato. This is very popular among hotels and airlines,” he added.
