உத்தேச அரசியலமைப்புத் திருத்திற்கு ஆதரவு வழங்குவதா? இல்லையா? என்பது குறித்து எதிர்வரும் 6 ஆம் திகதி கூடும் தமிழ் தேசியக் கூட்டமைப்பின் நாடாளுமன்ற குழுக் கூட்டத்தில் தீர்மானிக்கப்படும் என நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் மாவை சேனாதிராஜா தெரிவித்துள்ளார். அரசியலமைப்புத் திருத்ததில் உள்ளடக்கப்பட்டுள்ள விடயங்களை ஆராய்ந்த பின்னர் இந்த தீர்மானம் எடுக்கப்படும் எனவும் அவர் கூறியுள்ளார். அதேவேளை தமிழ் மக்களின் பிரச்சினைகளுக்கு தீர்வை பெற்றுக்கொடுப்பது அரசாங்கத்தின் பொறுப்பு என்றும் மாவை சேனாதிராஜா குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளார். எவ்வாறாயினும் அரசியலமைப்புத் திருத்தம் தொடர்பான தீர்மானம் ஒன்றை இன்னும் மேற்கொள்ளாததால், அது குறித்து மேலதிகமான எதனையும் கூறமுடியாது எனவும் அவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

Comrade Ahmad Al-Mesh'ati, a leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Nablus, was kidnapped in Nablus by Palestinian Authority security and intelligence forces on Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Comrade al-Mesh'ati has been "wanted" by the Israeli occupation forces for a number of years. Comrade Zaher al-Shishtari, representative of the PFLP in Nablus, said that the Front holds the Authority fully responsible for his safety and security and demanded his immediate release.
Comrade al-Shishtari said in a press release that "our comrade was arrested as the streets of the Palestinian West Bank have become an amusement park for Israeli soldiers to enjoy themselves and walk about freely. We hold the Authority fully responsible for the safety of our comrade kidnapped by the PA intelligence services."
He warned the Authority of the consequences of its continued policy of targeting and arresting resistance figures as the occupation attacks continue, demanding that the PA immediately end its so-called "security cooperation" with the occupation's army of killers and to release all members of the resistance held in PA jails and prisons immediately, saying that such policies only serve the interests and the implementation of occupation policies and are a betrayal of the Palestinian resistance and the Palestinian people.

State-run Sunday Observer newspaper reported that the government has obtained the support of 153 parliamentarians, more than the two-thirds majority needed to change the Constitution.
On Friday, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) announced its eight parliamentary members would be supporting the government in the proposed changes to the Constitution.
"The high command of the Muslim Congress had decided to vote in support of the constitutional amendments,” said SLMC leader Rauff Hakeem.
Those changes include lifting the term-restriction on a presidential candidate. The current Constitution of 1978 allows for a maximum of two presidential terms. The proposed amendments would remove that condition. If passed in Parliament, the new regulations would allow Rajapaksa to run for a third term.
The SLMC said that although it will support the amendments, it will not join the government. Sri Lanka’s main opposition United National Party (UNP) has criticized the SLMC decision, pointing out that during the April general election, the SLMC campaigned under the United National Front, led by the UNP.
UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya told media that the SLMC should have consulted the UNP leaders prior to giving its support to the government.

LONDON — A right-wing group that opposes what it calls the spread of Islam in Britain clashed with riot police in northern England on Saturday, throwing bottles, rocks and a smoke bomb at authorities. The demonstration by the English Defense League occurred in Bradford, a city with one of the country's largest Pakistani and Muslim communities.
The clashes began as the police kept about 700 English Defense League protesters apart from a leftist group that had called a counter-demonstration nearby. One English Defense League protester was taken away with a leg injury and five people were arrested, police said.
Bradford saw some of the U.K.'s worst riots in 2001, when racial tension between whites and South Asian immigrants resulted in looting, arson, and attacks on immigrant-owned businesses. More than 180 people were charged with rioting in that incident.
The city had braced for similar unrest Saturday because the English Defense League had predicted that thousands of its supporters would descend on the city.
But riot police, some riding horses, outnumbered the activists, penning them in with barricades to keep them away from the counter-demonstration by United Against Fascism.
The two opposing groups had clashed during similar rallies last year in northern English cities such as Leeds and Manchester.
The English Defense League, which insists it is a peaceful organization, opposes what it calls the spread of Islam, Sharia law and Islamic extremism in England.
Its opponents say the group is racist and stages violent protests.
