Defection: Former Libyan minister Musa Kusa arrived in Britain on Wednesday and taxpayers will have to pay for his protection

David Cameron is facing furious demands to put Gaddafi’s ‘envoy of death’ on trial after his defection to Britain.

The Prime Minister was last night accused of handing Musa Kusa – who masterminded the Lockerbie bombing and numerous other atrocities – a ‘get out of jail free card’.

It is estimated that housing and guarding the former Libyan foreign minister will cost taxpayers here more than £1million a year.

But Mr Cameron hailed the defection of Kusa as a ‘serious blow’ to the ‘crumbling and rotten Gaddafi regime’.

Last night sources said two more senior Gaddafi figures are in Tunis discussing deals with British and French intelligence officers, while at least eight others have defected to Tunisia.

In all, 12 former henchmen could be ready to defect to Britain. But as MI6 and the Foreign Office welcomed Kusa, critics said he should face justice like Rudolf Hess, Hitler’s deputy who fled to Britain in 1941.

Scottish prosecutors demanded to question the defector about the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 in 1988.

Detectives from Scotland Yard are also set to talk to him about the murder of WPC Yvonne Fletcher by a Libyan gunman in 1984.

Families of those killed in Lockerbie, Britain’s worst terror atrocity, branded the UK a ‘soft touch’ – especially after the release of the Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Al Megrahi in 2009.

There is also anger from MPs about Kusa’s support for the IRA during the height of its mainland bombing campaign. Libya supplied Semtex to the Provisionals in the 1970s and 80s.

Yesterday MPs said taxpayers should not have to foot the bill to protect Kusa from assassination.

Qatar recognised the rebel Libyan National Council as the sole legitimate representative of the Libyan people n Monday, the Qatari state news agency reported.

“This recognition comes from a conviction that the council has become, practically, a representative of Libya and its brotherly people,” the agency reported, quoting a Foreign Ministry official.Explaining the decision, the official said the rebel council included representatives of different Libyan regions and had acceptance among the Libyan people.

லிபியா மீதான மேற்குலக நாடுகளின் தாக்குதல்களை கண்டித்து இன்று கொழும்பு ஐ.நா. அலுவலகம் முன்பாக பாரிய ஆர்ப்பாட்டம் ஒன்று முன்னெடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

தேசிய சுதந்திர முன்னணியின் அமைச்சர் விமல் வீரவன்ச தலைமையில் இவ்வார்ப்பாட்டம் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளது.

லிபியா மீதான தாக்குதல் குறித்து அமைச்சர் விமல் வீரவன்ச கருத்து தெரிவிக்கையில்,

லிபியாவில் நடைபெற்ற போராட்டங்கள் ஆனது உள்நாட்டு விடயமாகும். உள்நாட்டின் பிரச்சினைகளை தீர்த்துக்கொள்ள லிபியாவின் அரசாங்கத்திற்கும் அந்நாட்டு மக்களுக்குமே உரிமையுள்ளது. எந்த ஒரு நாட்டினதும் உள்நாட்டு விடயங்களில் தலையிட்டு இறையாண்மைக்கு களங்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும் உரிமை எந்தவொரு அரசிற்கோ அமைப்பிற்கோ கிடையாது.

ஆனால், ஐ.நா. பாதுகாப்பு சபையின் அனுமதியுடன் அமெரிக்க மற்றும் பிரிட்டன் உள்ளிட்ட மேற்குலக நாடுகள் பலவந்தமாக தலையிட்டு லிபியா மீது விமானம் மூலமான தாக்குதல்களை மேற்கொண்டு வருகின்றன. ஈராக்கிற்கு நடந்த நிலையே இன்று லிபியாவிற்கும் நடைபெறுகின்றது. லிபியாவின் எண்ணெய் வளத்தை குறிவைத்து மேற்குலக நாடுகள் தாக்குதல்களை நடத்தி வருகின்றன.

தாக்குதல்கள் நடத்துவதற்கு அனுமதியளித்து பான் கீ மூனும் போர்க்குற்றவாளியாகியுள்ளார். ஏனைய நாடுகளில் போர் குற்றங்களைத் தேடும் ஐ.நா. உள்ளிட்ட மேற்குலக நாடுகள் இன்று லிபியாவில் பாரிய போர் குற்றங்களை வெளிப்படையாக செய்து வருகின்றன. படைகளைப் பயன்படுத்தி ஏனைய நாடுகளை ஆக்கிரமிக்க இது ஒன்றும் 19ஆம் நூற்றாண்டு அல்ல.

எனவே,லிபியா மீதான தாக்குதலை இலங்கை வன்மையாக கண்டிக்கின்றது எனக் கூறினார்.

லிபியாவுக்கு எதிரான யுத்தத்தை கண்டிப்பதாக இது தோற்றமளித்தாலும், ஈழதேசத்தில் சிறீலங்கா நடத்திய இனப்படுகொலையையும், யுத்தக்குற்றங்களையும் நியாயப்படுத்துவதே கெளரவ அமைச்சர் விமல் வீரவன்சவின் குறிக்கோள் என்பது தெளிவாகின்றது.’’எந்த ஒரு நாட்டினதும் உள்நாட்டு விடயங்களில் தலையிட்டு இறையாண்மைக்கு களங்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும் உரிமை எந்தவொரு அரசிற்கோ அமைப்பிற்கோ கிடையாது.’’ உண்மைதான் அமைச்சரே கூடவே ஒரு தேசத்தின் சுயநிர்ணயத்தில் தலையிடுவதற்கும் எந்தவொரு அரசிற்கோ அமைப்பிற்கோ உரிமை கிடையாது என்பதையும் சேர்த்துச் சொல்லவிடாமல் தங்களைத் தடுப்பது என்ன? முள்ளிவாய்க்காலில் 40 ஆயிரம் மக்களைப் படுகொலை செய்த இறையாண்மையுள்ள சிறீலங்கா அரசு, ஒரு களங்கமாக தங்கள் கண்களுக்கு தெரியாதது ஏன்? சிங்களப் பெருந்தேசிய வெறிதானே!!

Nato to command all Libya's military operations


Nato ambassadors meeting in Brussels have agreed that the alliance will take command of all international military operations relating to Libya.

That includes airstrikes on Colonel Gaddafi's forces.


The decision ends days of diplomatic wrangling and paves the way for the US to relinquish its temporary leadership of the operation.


Some Nato members - notably Turkey and Germany - have been reluctant for the alliance to take charge of the air strikes because of the risk of civilian casualties.
