Tense situation reported at Kurundi temple

Subsequently, Chief Incumbent of Kurundi temple Ven. Galgamuwe Shantabodhi Thera arrived at the scene and, in accordance with the court order, granted permission for the Pongal Puja to proceed. 

However, he advised the group, including the Member of Parliament, against engaging in such unethical activities in the future. The group was aggressive towards the monk as well.

A tense situation arose when a group led by Tamil National People's Front leader Gajendrakumar

Ponnambalam entered the Kurundi temple and conducted a Pongal Pooja, Mullaitivu police said.

Police said however the situation was brought under control.

According to a court order obtained from the Mullaitivu Court, a group, including MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, had gone to perform a Pongal Pooja at the Kurundi temple. However, the temple's donors had opposed them, deeming it illegal, resulting in a heated exchange of words between the two parties.

Subsequently, Chief Incumbent of Kurundi temple Ven. Galgamuwe Shantabodhi Thera arrived at the scene and, in accordance with the court order, granted permission for the Pongal Puja to proceed. 

However, he advised the group, including the Member of Parliament, against engaging in such unethical activities in the future. The group was aggressive towards the monk as well.

The Mullaitivu police arrived and diffued the situation. They also contacted officials of the Archaeological Department, who designated an appropriate area for the Pongal pooja. The participating individuals conducted the Pongal pooja and then had left. (Romesh Madusanka)

குருந்தூர் மலையில் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்ட பொங்கல் நிகழ்வை குழப்பிய பௌத்த பிக்கு மீது நடவடிக்கையெடுக்குமாறு நேற்றைய தினம் வெள்ளிக்கிழமை பொலிஸ் நிலையத்தில் முறைப்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

நாடாளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் செல்வராஜா கஜேந்திரனால் முல்லைத்தீவு பொலிஸ் நிலையத்தில் குறித்த விடயம் தொடர்பில் முறைப்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

குறித்த முறைப்பாட்டில், வழிபாட்டின் போது ஆதிசிவன் ஐயனார் ஆலயத்திற்குள் அத்து மீறி நுழைந்து, வன்முறையில் ஈடுபட்ட குருந்தூர் மலை விகாரையின் விகாராதிபதி என தன்னை கூறிக்கொள்ளும் கல்கமுவ சாந்தபோதி தேரருக்கு எதிராக நடவடிக்கையெடுக்குமாறு கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதேவேளை, மத வழிபாட்டு சுதந்திரத்தை மறுத்து பொங்கல் வழிபாட்டில் பொங்கல் நேர்த்திக் கடனை செய்யவிடாது தடுத்த தொல்லியல் அதிகாரிகளுக்கு எதிராகவும் நடவடிக்கையெடுக்குமாறு குறித்த முறைப்பாட்டில் மேலும் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

பொங்கல் பொங்கியாயிற்று!

குருந்தூர்மலையில் அமைதியாக பொங்கல் வழிபாட்டில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்த பகுதிக்குள் ‘குருந்தி விகாரை’ பௌத்த பிக்கு நுழைந்து தமிழர்களின் பொங்கல் வழிபாட்டை சீர்குலைக்க முயன்றமையால் இன்று பதற்ற நிலை தோன்றியிருந்தது.

தொல்பொருள் திணைக்களத்தின் கடுமையான கட்டுப்பாடுகளின் மத்தியில் குருந்தூர் மலையில் இன்று (18) பொங்கல் வழிபாடுகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டிருந்தது.

இந்நிலையில் முல்லைத்தீவு - குருந்தூர்மலையில் ஐநூறுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட சிங்கள மக்கள் மற்றும் பௌத்த பிக்குகள் இணைந்து அங்கு சட்டவிரோதமாக அமைக்கப்பட்ட விகாரையில் வழிபாடுகளில் ஈடுபட்டனர்.

குருந்தூர்மலை ஆதிசிவன் ஐயனார் ஆலய பொங்கல் நிகழ்வு திட்டமிடப்பட்டிருந்த நிலையில் சிங்கள மக்கள் வருவிக்கப்பட்டு வழிபாடுகளில் ஈடுபட்டனர்.

இன்றைய பொங்கல் நிகழ்வுகளில் குழப்பங்கள் ஏற்படலாம் என தெரிவித்து நூற்றுக்கணக்கான காவல்துறையினர், விசேட அதிரடிப் படையினர் பாதுகாப்பு கடமைகளுக்காக அழைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தனர்;.

புராதன சின்னங்களுக்கு பாதிப்பு ஏற்படாத வகையில் அப்பிரதேச மக்கள் தங்களது மத ரீதியான பூஜை வழிபாடுகளை மேற்கொள்ளலாம்.ஒருவரது மத வழிபாடுகளுக்கு மற்றைய தரப்பினர் எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவிக்கின்றார்கள் என்பதற்காக ஒருவரது மதவழிபாடுகளை தடுக்க ’தடைக் கட்டளை’ வழங்க முடியாது என காவல்துறையினரின் தடையுத்தரவு கோரிக்கையை முல்லைத்தீவு நீதவான் நீதிமன்று நிராகரித்திருந்த நிலையில் பதட்டத்தின் மத்தியில் இன்றைய இந்துக்களது பொங்கல் நடந்து முடிந்துள்ளது.
